He began with 5 employes going door to door wiring homes without electricity. The company rapidly grew as they began to expand their services to heating and air conditioning and plumbing. In the 1970s Murray Flatt Electric Co. was the fourth largest employer in Dyer County. Employing over 180 people. The company at this time provided commercial and residential service working a multi state area. I
n the 1980s Murray directed his attention to doing what he enjoyed the most, installing residential and small commercial heating and air conditioning. October 1986 Murray Flatt passed away. Upon the death of his father John Flatt, son and Danny Carpenter, son in law began Flatt Heating and Air Conditioning. John and Danny had over 37 years combined experience. Thanks to good leadership, great employes, and the companies good reputation, they continued to proudly serve 7 Northwest counties in Tennessee.
2011 after 25 years of service, Danny Carpenter resigned and turned over his partnership to his son Collin Carpenter. The company still remains Flatt Heating and AIr and is proud to be a "third" generation company. Through the 76 years of successful business, Flatt Heating and Air has been honored by receiving over 100 different awards. Including being TVA's Regional Energy Right Heat Pump Award Winner, 18 consecutive years.
