There’s something about spring in Newbury, Vermont that feels almost impossible to explain unless you’ve experienced it firsthand. First the sour then the sweet…

The mud season slowly gives way to green fields, the stone walls begin to disappear under green mats of moss and our native wildflowers/ferns, and the trees along the back roads finally wake up and fill in the empty spaces left after our long Vermont winter. The Connecticut River glitters a little brighter, the mountains soften into brilliant shades of green, and suddenly everyone remembers why they choose to live here despite February, March, April, you get my drift!

After months of gray skies, frozen ground, and wondering why any of us choose to live here, spring quietly reminds us exactly why we do. Windows open again. Porches come back to life. Job sites start buzzing. The smell of fresh cut lumber mixes with lilacs and damp earth.

Spring in Vermont isn’t flashy — it’s quiet, and beautiful in a way that sneaks up on you. And on days like these, Newbury feels like one of the prettiest places on earth to us at Housewright.

Every crew has their go to tools 👷‍♂️🛠️

From precision laser levels to framing hammers that can handle all day use, these are a few recent favorites from the Housewright team and why they’ve earned a spot on the jobsite.

Contractors, what tool could you not work without?

On Memorial Day, we take a moment to recognize and remember the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Today is about honoring their courage, their service, and the lives they gave in defense of others. We’re thinking especially of the families, friends, and communities who continue to carry their memory with them every day.

Wishing everyone a meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Everyone talks about ladders, power tools, and heavy equipment… but nobody warns you that the most relentless hazard on a Vermont jobsite this time of year is apparently a tick hiding in grass waiting to ruin your week.

One minute you’re walking the site discussing trim details…The next minute a grown carpenter is stripping down in the driveway yelling: “CHECK MY BACK.”

Spring construction season in Vermont comes with its own special safety protocols:
✔️ Hard hats
✔️ Safety glasses
✔️ Tape measure
✔️ Get your Spidey sense activated for those little nasty bloodsuckers

Reminder to all the Vermont crews out there:

👉 Wear the bug spray
👉 Check yourself at the end of the day
👉 Stop slapping your coworker yelling “TICK!” unless you’re absolutely sure

Stay safe out there. The ticks are putting in overtime this year!

Creating content each week sounds simple… until you actually try to do it.

Somewhere between “we should post consistently” and “what do you mean we already posted kitchens, trends, AND behind-the-scenes?” is a very real creative desert where even the walls start looking at you like, “didn’t you already photograph me?”

At this point, we’ve officially categorized our projects into:

➡️ Not remotely ready to showcase
➡️ Emotionally ready to showcase but physically not there yet
➡️ And the mysterious “we swear this will be amazing… someday” phase

Meanwhile, the content calendar remains optimistic, our team remains creative, and I remain convinced that inspiration will definitely show up right after this meeting… or maybe after lunch… or possibly next month.

The good news? We always find a way. The slightly less good news? The camera roll is now 37% ceiling joists, 22% half-finished trim, and 41% “artful angles that hide the messy part.”

Stay tuned. Creativity is coming. It just likes to arrive fashionably late on occasion. 🤪 - Jodi Ovens
