October at La Placa | a month of progress, with our people at the heart of it.

This month, we took you behind the scenes at Calle Miguel and Nancy Jane, shared a closer look at Azusa Ave as its layout takes shape, and stepped inside Santa Lucia to appreciate the finished spaces and thoughtful details.

Along the way, we shared more of the team behind the work. From new merch and new trucks to Gaetano’s story of how La Placa began, October was a chance to celebrate both where we’re headed and the foundation we’re building on.

Every walkthrough, conversation, and day on site is part of that story. Thank you for following along as we share it.

Our vision for this project is to transform a single family property into three residential units making thoughtful use of the site and creating more places to call home.

Meet Victoria. A new chapter in Costa Mesa.

Every transformation starts with a closer look at what’s already there. Today, we’re introducing Victoria and sharing the spaces that will become the foundation for this project’s next chapter.

Our vision is to reimagine the existing home and introduce an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), creating additional living space and making more thoughtful use of the property. These photos show our starting point, with the planned improvements still ahead.

For our team, this stage is about understanding the property’s potential and giving each decision a purpose from how the spaces function to how they’ll serve the people who eventually call them home.

Limerick Ln | The vision starts here.

With the acquisition complete, we’re taking a closer look at what this San Juan Capistrano property could become. This stage is about understanding the home as it stands and exploring the opportunities that will guide its next chapter.

What’s worth preserving? What could work better? Where could thoughtful changes make the greatest difference in how the home feels and functions?

These are the questions that give a vision direction. Before plans become progress, there’s time spent observing, discussing possibilities, and deciding which ideas deserve to move forward.

You’ve seen the projects. Now, meet the person who started it all.

Meet Gaetano La Placa, founder of La Placa Group. We caught up with him to talk about why he started the company, what has stayed at its heart as we’ve grown, and what he hopes to build for the future.

Much of what we share begins on a job site a walkthrough, a construction milestone, a space taking shape. But the story of La Placa begins before any of those moments with the decision to start something and the commitment to keep building it.

This conversation brings us back to that beginning. It’s an opportunity to get to know Gaetano beyond his title and hear, in his own words, the perspective behind the work.

Meet Gaetano the founder of La Placa Group and the beginning of a family legacy.

In 1973, Gaetano immigrated from Italy to the United States. His early years on construction sites were spent sweeping floors, painting, and learning the work firsthand. He went on to develop his skills as a craftsman, designer, and project manager before founding La Placa Development in 1984.

More than four decades later, he’s still in the field, working alongside his family and bringing years of experience to the details of each project. His commitment to craftsmanship, integrity, and looking out for clients continues to shape the way we work.

That history is part of the foundation of La Placa Group a family carrying forward the knowledge, care, and standards built over a lifetime.

Every single project goes through dozens upon dozens of revisions before we finalize the floor plan and send it to the architect. Fortunately, we have our founder, Gaetano, who can hand-sketch our ideas in real time as we refine the vision (swipe to see one of his sketches).

We just completed 329 Calle Pescador in San Clemente, and my favorite detail might just be the laundry room. In a 2,158 SF home, carving out space for a true laundry room is no easy task, but thoughtful layout decisions—like turning the passthrough from the garage to the great room into a functional laundry space—make a home live so much larger than its square footage.

My other favorite feature is this massive 12' island! Perfect space for entertaining.
