The 1873 Doubled Liberty Indian Cent is one of the scarcest varieties in the series. It happened when the working die received two impressions from the master die during production, doubling the “LIBERTY” inscription.

Fewer than 1,000 examples are known to exist. Graded PCGS MS63BN, this example is valued at $9,250 according to the PCGS Price Guide. That's the kind of coin that collectors spend their lives searching for.
