Big news for K-12 schools in Virginia…

Commonwealth Automation & Controls (CAC) is now an authorized systems integrator for the Johnson Controls Metasys platform across select counties in Central and Eastern Virginia.

Up until now, Metasys support has largely been limited to branch offices. That’s changing, and we’re excited about bringing another option to the table.

What this means:
• Schools with existing Metasys systems now have a new partner for service, upgrades, and support
• Full capabilities to support Metasys requirements on new construction and renovation projects
• More flexibility and responsiveness from a local, controls-focused team
• The same “figure-it-out and get-it-done” approach we bring to every job

We’ve built our reputation on being easy to work with, quick to respond, and strong technical expertise. This just expands where we can apply that.

Intern Spotlight!

Jacob joined the Commonwealth team this summer for a tech internship and knocked it out of the park. He has been a huge help with estimating, installation, startup, programming, and even got to help Mid-Atlantic Technology Services with some access control. Jacob is entering his fourth year in the architecture program at Virginia Tech and will spend the next semester studying abroad. Have a safe trip and thank you for your hard work this summer!

Our team recently had the opportunity to help a client upgrade a fully pneumatic control panel to a hybrid pneumatic/DDC approach that gave them visibility and control of the system through their BAS and preserved the existing actuators to save budget on the project. Before and after photos really show the difference! Our best estimates are that the pneumatic controllers had been in service for 50+ years

Some of the CAC team had the opportunity to attend the AHR Expo in Atlanta this week. It was a fast paced but productive time of learning and networking with some of our suppliers. Highlights were meeting up with the Strato Automation and Johnson Controls Facility Explorer teams to preview new hardware and software releases, and working with Smart Buildings Academy to line up technician training for our next group of techs. We are looking forward to getting back to our customers and serving them better!
