Not your average pick. 🚁

A U.S. Army helicopter, a spreader bar, a 110-ton crane, and a rigging crew that knows an aircraft doesn't lift like a steel beam. Weight distribution, pick points, and balance all had to be dialed in before the fuselage left the ground and it came up level, exactly as planned.

Unusual loads are where the planning earns its keep.

October is Careers in Construction Month so here's the crew. πŸ’ͺ

Operators, riggers, and drivers who spent a morning moving a piece of military history and made it look routine. It wasn't. It took certification, a real plan, and the kind of judgment you only build on the job.

The skilled trades don't get enough credit for what they make possible. This month, they should.

It's the last day of Construction Inclusion Week, the sixth year the industry has set aside a week to talk about something that should be every week. 🀝

A jobsite works when every person on it is respected, heard, and safe to speak up because the rigger who's afraid to call a stop is the one who doesn't. Safe to speak up. Safe to stop the lift. Inclusion isn't a soft skill out here. It's a safety system.

To everyone building a career in this trade: the industry is better with you in it.

October is Manufacturing Month and this is what it looks like from our side of the hook. 🏭

A fabricated steel structure, a 165-ton crane, and a multi-leg sling setup rigged to lift it off the trailer level and set it without a scratch. Fabricators and manufacturers call us because the piece they built is worth too much to improvise with.

Every sling angle, every pick point, every leg of that rigging was worked out before the hook block ever came down.

Moving something you built? Let's plan it right.

Happy 251st birthday to the U.S. Navy . βš“

Established October 13, 1775 and nowhere is that history more alive than here. Hampton Roads is Navy country: home to the world's largest naval base and the shipyards that build and maintain the fleet. Around here the Navy isn't an abstraction. It's neighbors, customers, and the reason a lot of heavy things get lifted on the waterfront.

From the crew at Hampton Roads Crane & Rigging, thank you to everyone who has served.

Some loads you don't get a second try on. πŸ—οΈ

This one was a vintage armored tank, decades old, one of a kind, and headed for its new home under a covered display. The lift called for our 165-ton crane, a rigging plan built around the tank's actual pick points, and a crew that treated it like the piece of history it is.

Slow, deliberate, and set exactly where it belonged.

Got something heavy, awkward, or irreplaceable that needs to move? That's the work we're built for.

Q4 is when schedules get tight. πŸ—“οΈ

If you've got a lift, a machinery move, or an oversize haul landing before year-end, now is the time to get it on the calendar. The jobs that go smoothly are the ones planned early, crane sized to the load, site access confirmed, permits started, and a rigging plan in hand before anyone shows up.

Tell us what you're moving and we'll tell you what it takes. Free estimates.
