Spring rain is on the way! Is your yard ready for the excess water?

One of the most common issues that we see is negative drainage around foundations. On this project we removed some over grown shrubs & trees and then added topsoil to give the yard proper drainage.

A few quick tips to help your foundation

✅ Postive drainage! Water should flow away from the home and no standing water near the foundation.

✅ Install rain gutters and make sure they are cleaned regularly

✅ Make sure your sump pump works and ejects at least 10’ away.

✅ Make sure there are no settled sections of concrete or landscape edging that dams water.

Here are a few photos from a recent system we installed. This one was a little more unique than most. The property had been split and sold over the years. There was an existing lagoon that KDHE wanted to utilize, so we did. This building has a 1/2 bath and will use very little water. We installed a new sewer line, a 1,000-gallon tank with baffles and a cleanout. Solids stay in the tank, and the water is sent to a lift station and pumped into the lagoon.

Here's a little clean slate project we completed a while back. The yard was covered in overgrown vegetation, shrubs, large trees, and rock. We got rid of everything, brought in topsoil, graded the yard, and put down some landscape rock. After we finished, the homeowners put down sod and sent us pictures of the finished product. Everything came together nicely, and the yard is now nothing but usable space.

Does your house have negative drainage? This home had some drainage issues that led to foundation repairs. The homeowner had the foundation fixed and secured properly, then we came in to clean things up. We removed some broken sidewalks, dug out the clay soil, hauled in topsoil, and graded it to shed water. In the spring, it will be ready for a lawn and landscaping.

This was a fun job to be part of! There was a natural water pool originally. The homeowners decided to fill it in and use the space for a flagstone patio instead. We hauled in hundreds of tons of sand, watering and compacting it in lifts. Road stabilization fabric was put down and capped with 3/4” rock. Shortly after, the landscapers came in and installed flagstone. Feel free to reach out to us for your next project 316-288-1755.

Wrapped up another building pad!

Before the pad could be built, we cleared 3/4 acre of trees and removed an old cistern. Next, we found a spot to borrow material on the property, removed the topsoil until there was good clean fill dirt. Once the pad was finished, we blended the banks of the borrowing pit into the hillside. This customer is one step closer to a new metal building!
