Summer’s not over for us…

We’ll be outside through October…weather permitting! (PLEASE PERMIT) 😂

But as we head into the final stretch of our exterior season, I can’t help but look back and think… this summer was one for the books.

There were highs. There were lows. There were long days that turned into even longer nights. Early mornings, weekends, and more than a few “just one more thing before we call it a day” moments.

And through all of it, we’ve been incredibly blessed with an abundance of great work and even better people.

Our crews have worked long days. Our estimator has finalized jobs with customers at 8:00 at night and met people on Sunday mornings because that was what worked best for their schedule. Behind the scenes, we’ve juggled phone calls, emails, text messages, estimates, scheduling, system changes, material orders, weather delays…and all the things that come with running a small business.

And…let’s not forget family! Because the family is always first!

I know one thing…small business life will humble you. 😂

If you don’t run one, you will never understand.

It’s not always perfect. We’re not always perfect. We fall short sometimes. We make adjustments. We learn. We fix things. And then there are those jobs where we absolutely exceed a customer’s expectations and those moments remind us exactly why we keep showing up.

Through every high and every low, we’ve tried to do what we’ve always done:

Focus on the work in front of us.
Take care of the jobs we’ve been trusted with.
And serve the people who chose S&K.

That’s what matters.

Nearly three decades into this thing, we’re still working. Still learning. Still growing. Still grateful every single time someone trusts our family business with their home or business.

We love this community. We’re proud to work here. And we’re going to keep showing up, working hard, serving people well, and chasing that American Dream that we absolutely believe is still alive and well. 🇺🇸

Thank you to every customer who kept our phones ringing, our crews working, our schedule full…and occasionally our heads spinning. 😂

What a summer. And we’re not done yet.

Last week we finished this exterior for the kindest folks… and this one was about so much more than paint.

From the beginning, he was incredibly helpful…answering questions, working with our crew, and just being an all around good human to work for.

But my favorite part came when everything was finished.

They have been married for over 60 years! They welcomed me to their table, and somehow we went from talking about paint to our poor decisions made at Kent State 😂, our great decisions made at YSU, raising kids, family, life and everything in between.

And I just sat there thinking… this is the good stuff.

This is the stuff that reminds me why we have the best jobs in the world.

You don’t always expect to walk away from a painting project having received some pretty valuable life advice from the people who hired you, but I did.

There is something special about sitting across the table from people who have lived a little more life than you, raised their family, learned some lessons and are willing to share a little wisdom.

We may have been hired to make their home a little more beautiful, but I think we walked away with just as much as we gave.

We are incredibly honored they trusted S&K Painting with their home.

Great customers.
Great conversations.
And one of those jobs that reminds you that the people will always be the best part of what we do.
