Here’s another big block retaining wall we completed this week! This wall is 62 feet long and 10 feet high at the tallest point, located just south of Nauvoo, IL.

This was a very tight site with not much room to work or stage the dirt and blocks, so we had to build and stack the wall in two different sections. It definitely took some planning, but it turned out awesome!

With lots of drainage work, plenty of geogrid, a 90° corner, and a big curve, this wall was built to stay for years to come.

Very proud of our team and how this big wall came together!

Another steep gravel driveway brought back to life.

This driveway received a full rehabilitation. Some of the original ideas were good, but it was time for an update that would handle water more effectively and reduce future maintenance.
We replaced the old concrete catch basins with erosion stone, installed larger dual-wall plastic culverts, cut proper drainage ditches along the north side, and raised and crowned the roadway to move water where it belongs.
The result is a stronger, better-draining driveway that’s built to stand up to heavy rains and everyday use.

Sometimes a big block retaining wall isn’t the only solution.

For this project near Carthage, we stabilized a steep bank along a township road by a new pond using geotextile fabric and riprap. This combination helps prevent erosion, protects the slope for years to come, and gives the property a clean, finished look with added curb appeal.

The rain has definitely been slowing us down, but we were still able to get this project wrapped up despite the mud.

We demolished these old railroad tie retaining walls, dug out several stumps, hauled all of the debris away, made more usable space behind the cabin, widened the driveway for additional parking and better access, and lined the newly graded slopes with erosion stone to help prevent washouts and stabilize the area for years to come.
