ATTENTION. THIS IS KINDA LONG, BUT PLEASE READ.
With this years weather acting crazy and us not even getting snow in Oklahoma......I think we may be up for a pretty bad storm season. I want everyone to be prepared in Noble. This coming up week we have our first REAL chance of storms and the peak day is looking like Monday where a dry line will be set up and warmer gulf air will be coming in, please take this weekend and get a plan together for your family in case of a storm.
If you need help, let me know. I want all my friends to be weather aware. Tornadoes are all too common in Oklahoma and in the recent years, they are hitting well populated areas. Don't wait until something happens to get a plan in action. Inform your children, make a plan, run drills, gather items and get yourself prepared.
Imagine if you hear sirens and it's black outside.... What are you gonna grab at the last min to save your families life? I know that personally I have an entire plan set out if one catches me off guard. Even though most times I'm out chasing them and taking photos.
-Flashlights with fresh batteries
-Radio with fresh batteries
-Blankets
-Jackets/hoodies/ long sleeved shirts
-Helmets
-Eye protection
-Water
-Air Horn(me personally I have this in here in case debris trap you and you can make enough noise, you have something that can)
Make sure you have a plan set in place for your animals. They can not protect themselves in a storm. More times than not, people run back in to save their animals.... Some survive....
IF YOU HAVE NO SHELTER: Find the middle, lowest level of your home. Whether it be a closet, hallway or bathroom. Make sure that there is no outer wall. You want as many walls between you and the outside as can be. Store all the items in this closet. Stay away from windows.
IF YOU HAVE A SHELTER:
Clean it out this weekend, stock it with the necessities, make sure all your batteries are fresh. Water and non-perishable food items, also something that will help to calm children in case they are scared, toys, books, or any activities that you can do to keep the mindset off of what is going on.
Please share and get this out there. Stay safe and be weather aware.
