FLOOD-DAMAGED HOME WITH LITTLE OR NO INSURANCE?

Please please please read!

Take these steps now:

1. Document everything before cleanup. Photograph water lines, flooring, drywall, structural damage, furniture, appliances and personal belongings. Save all receipts, then remove wet materials as soon as it is safe.
2. Report the damage to Indiana 211—even if you’re unsure whether you qualify. Call 211 or 866-211-9966, or visit on.in.gov/IN-211. These reports help determine what additional recovery resources may become available.
3. If you have insurance, file a claim and keep the settlement or denial letter.
4. Watch for FEMA Individual Assistance. If approved for your county, grants may help cover eligible uninsured losses. Apply at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-3362.
5. Low-interest SBA disaster loans may also become available to eligible homeowners and renters in declared areas.

There are no clever words for this. Seeing what families across Indiana are facing right now is heartbreaking. A home is where people are supposed to feel safe, and watching floodwater take away that sense of safety is devastating.

We know a few supplies cannot repair the damage or remove the uncertainty of what comes next. We simply wanted to show up, help in whatever small way we could, and stand beside our neighbors.

There’s definitely been an uptick in storm damage lately because it feels like almost every roof I’ve been getting on has had legitimate issues. We’re currently replacing 5–10 roofs a week that were fully covered through insurance.

But what most people don’t see is that the majority of the roofs we inspect are completely fine.

And honestly, that’s a good thing.

A big part of what we do is simply giving homeowners honest answers, updated time-stamped inspection photos, and peace of mind knowing their home is protected and doesn’t need attention right now.

Not every inspection should turn into a roof replacement.

Sometimes the best outcome is climbing down the ladder and telling a homeowner, “Everything looks good.”

That’s how we approach this business. We’re here to help you make informed decisions about your home — not pressure you into replacing something that doesn’t need replaced.
