For Careers in Construction Month, we’re spotlighting Curtis, Provost’s General Superintendent!

Curtis grew up working in construction with his dad. Over the years, he’s worked on everything from fast-paced remodels to large ground-up multifamily projects. When the opportunity to become a superintendent came along, he was ready to put that experience to work leading both projects and people.

After more than five years with Provost, Curtis says no two days on a jobsite are alike. He focuses on staying ahead of problems, keeping the trades moving together, and making sure people have what they need to work safely and keep the project progressing.

Ask him which project he’s most proud of, and he’ll tell you he’s looking forward to the next one. Every build—and every person he works with—still teaches him something.

His advice for anyone considering construction: “Don’t be afraid to start at the bottom
and learn every part of the business that you can.”

Showing up for a good cause and bringing our own flavor to the fairway. ⛳🌭

Provost Construction was proud to attend the STG 4th Annual Charity Golf Classic on October 15 at Cypress Point Country Club as a Silver Sponsor of Hole 7!

A great day with our team, fellow golfers and the STG community for an event supporting EQUI-KIDS. Thank you to Security Technology Group for bringing everyone together!

And yes, the matching shirts deserved a photo from both sides. 😎

Two offices. A little friendly rivalry & a whole lot of heart🥫🐾
Our Norfolk and Newport News teams are facing off in the Battle of the Offices—a food and pet supply drive supporting people and pets right here in our community!
Our office and field teams are collecting non-perishable foods, pet food and supplies, and blankets, sheets and towels through November 15.
📍 Team Norfolk is collecting for Norfolk SPCA Adoption Center & Veterinary Clinics and Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore
📍 Team Newport News is collecting for Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter (PRAS) and Virginia Peninsula Foodbank
The winning office earns bragging rights and a company-provided lunch. And together, both teams are helping support the community we’re proud to be part of!
Who do you think will take the win: Team Norfolk or Team Newport News? 👀🏆

Meet Debbie Baker, an Office Administrator supporting both Accounting and Project Management at Provost Construction!
For more than five years, Debbie has helped keep many moving parts organized—from job scheduling and manpower reports to accounts payable, billing, collections and project closeouts. Working across several departments allows her to contribute throughout the company, and she especially enjoys supporting the accounting team.
Her best piece of career advice is simple and effective: “If you don’t know the answer, find it.”
Outside of work, Debbie loves spending time with her family—and something her coworkers may not know is that she plays fantasy football!

We’re grateful to have Debbie’s versatility, determination and willingness to help on the Provost team!

Flashback Friday to this Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ build-out!
We transformed a 2,915-square-foot white-box space into a complete restaurant and entertainment destination—featuring custom axe-throwing lanes and one of the first multi-wall self-serve b**r systems our team built.
Behind the finished space was plenty of problem-solving, including a unique pumped waste plumbing system that had to travel overhead and connect to the city sewer.
Swipe to see this project take shape, from active construction to the finished build-out!

Originally built in 1906, The Walker Place went from an abandoned three-story warehouse to 32 apartments and three commercial restaurant spaces in downtown Newport News.

Inside, modern finishes meet the details that make this building special: original wood floors, exposed brick, wood beams and wooden pillars. Each apartment has its own character, with pieces of the building’s industrial past woven into the spaces people now call home.

Located on 23rd Street in the Walker-Wilkins-Bloxom Historic Warehouse —and right next to our office—this project is a meaningful part of Provost Construction’s connection to the Yard District.

Swipe through the transformation. Which historic detail catches your eye?

October is Careers in Construction Month, and we're putting a spotlight on the people behind Provost's projects!

There are many paths into this industry and many roles that bring a project across the finish line. This month, we'll take a closer look at the work of some of our team members and the paths that brought them here.

Meet Jessica, Senior Project Coordinator on Provost Construction’s Project Management team!
For nearly four years, Jessica has worked closely with our Project Managers, Accounting team and field superintendents. Her responsibilities span the full project lifecycle—from mobilization, travel arrangements and permitting to client billing, contracts, change orders and closeout.
One accomplishment she is especially proud of is recently running her own SNIPES project from start to finish. For Jessica, the best part of the job is seeing the finished result and knowing she helped turn an idea into something real.
Her best career advice: “Pick your battles and leave your emotions at home.”
Outside of work, Jessica loves spending time with her family, her two nieces and her three Rottweilers. She is also the proud owner of a 1968 Plymouth Fury III named Norma Jean!

Provost Construction is wrapping up the 85,902-square-foot build-out of Rural King’s Greensboro store, with the site turned over on September 24.
The work ranged from site improvements and accessible entrances to new spaces for the mechanic shop, Gun Barn, warehouse, offices and restrooms. Our team also installed a new storefront, replaced seven rooftop units, and completed extensive electrical and fire-protection upgrades.
A standout accomplishment: the propane refilling station was operational for the soft opening. These stations often go live months after a store opens because of state permitting. Working with the Rural King and Ferrell Gas teams, we had this one ready on opening day!
