What has to happen before the foundation goes in on a new addition? Somebody has to dig out the ground.

A homeowner in Coos Bay is adding on to their house. We took out the old patio and the posts, then dug out the corner where the addition will go.

Now that corner is ready for the foundation.

If water sits in your yard after a rain, it has nowhere to go.

A drywell gives it somewhere. This one started as a hole lined with fabric so the dirt around it cannot fill it in. Then clean rock went in, and a grid of white pipe with holes all through it. Water runs down the pipe, spreads out into the rock, and soaks away under the ground.

If you've eaten at the Lucky Star on Newmark, you've parked right next to this bank.

The top picture is before. Brush had taken over the whole bank and was hanging out over the parking lot. The bottom picture is after. We cut it all back, hauled it away, and spread hay all over the bank. The lot looks clean and open again.

Building on the coast starts with making the sand behave.

This lot in the Coos Bay area got graded with our track loader and then packed with a roller. It is ready for what comes next.

We cleared this 3-acre lot on Grinnell Lane in Coos Bay.
The top picture is before. It had an old house, big timber and brush all over it. The bottom picture is after. The house, the timber and the stumps are all gone. Twelve days later it was bare dirt, ready to build on.

Need a building pad? This job is on Fulton Avenue in Coos Bay. The lot was basically woods.

We cleared it, cleaned it up and leveled it. Then we built the pads for a house, a garage and an ADU (a small extra house on the lot). A French drain goes around the whole project.

The rain drains are going in now. The owner was happy.

You cannot walk the hill behind your house anymore.

This one out at Allegany was the same. We put two of our excavators on the slope and cleared it out, brush and stumps.

This hill below a house in Coos Bay was bare dirt. Here is how we turned it into a block wall.

1. We cleared the brush and cut the slope back with our excavator and track loader.
2. We dug a trench along the bottom and put in gravel and drain pipe.
3. We laid filter fabric and rock, then set the first row of block.
4. We built the wall up row by row and followed the curve of the hill.
5. The drain behind the wall carries groundwater away from the house.

We started February 26, and the wall was done March 6.
