Capers Landrum Cauthen is a local woodworker who handcrafts furniture out of reclaimed wood from Historical homes and Charleston county. He is a true naturalist and outdoorsman, a former commercial fisherman, who loves keeping it 'green' by beautifying wood that would otherwise be trashed, and turni
ng it into furniture. Cauthen, the former Director of the Preservation Society, who taught him everything he knows about furniture, antiques and design. Antiques, renovation, and hardwood flooring have been a part of Capers life since he was a teenager, and about three years ago, he began combining these skills to make creations out of the wood that was getting thrown away in the area. The business is called Landrum Tables LLC, and examples of his work can be found in homes around the Southeast, and in some local restaurants and galleries, including Charleston City Gallery, Two Boroughs Larder, Bull Street Gourmet on King Street, Indigo and Cotton, Fat Hen, Fig, and The Grocery.
