That sunshine sure can fool you! -40 in the morning to 5 above by afternoon..spent the day digging out the entire yard and barn from all this record breaking snow we’ve gotten this winter. Definitely was nice to stack some wood and feel the sunshine on our faces..although chilly it definitely felt a little like Spring!

Things that slow us down, that often people forget…snow removal. Today we shoveled our sawmill barn roof off and it had around 14” or more of snow on it. Quite the workout for sure. Next we have to dig out the entire yard of almost 2 feet of new snow that we have recieved in less then a week! A whole day just for snow removal and there is another big storm coming on Monday. Sawmilling and logging in interior Alaska during winter is brutal..from 4 weeks of -45 or colder temps to consistent waves of snow dumps, not to mention the lack of daylight, old Man Winter sure is grumpy this year.
