Next studio apartment is completed. Passed final inspection with the building department this morning. Apartment #5 of 8. 3 more to go! This one was frustrating. Two different contractors did some work. There were some issues and the apartments got demo'd, 2 different contactor did that. With the sheetrock demo'd, it exposed the first 2 contractors work and wow. No permits were pulled for the framing. Work was done by contractors who are a whole lot bigger then my business. Had Tim Henry do an inspection. Pulled a permit to fix the framing and put the unit back together.

Fixed the framing, Twins Electric re wired the unit. Installed insulation, sheetrock, mud, tape, texture, prime and paint. Flooring was installed. Installed cabinets, countertop and trim. Cleaned up and this one is done!

Unit is already rented for the first of the month.

Call out tonight for a sink hole in a parking lot. The whole corner of the parking lot was soft. Barricaded that area of the parking lot off. Looks like a broken water line and plumber was on the way. The parking lot will need to be dug up to get this fixed. The neighbor's sidewalk is messed up and the ground is caving in on the property line. This has been leaking for a while.

The next studio apartment is finished and the tenant moves tomorrow. Started off with 8 apartments to fix, 4 finished and 4 to go.

This apartment was supposed to look like the last apartment I finished with a peninsula and breakfast bar. The flooring guy took 4 days to lay flooring in one unit and 3 days in the next. That totally ruined my timeline. I told the property manager both units would be ready by the 15th. Since the flooring guy took longer I was not able to finish the second apartment like I wanted to but I did get it finished by the deadline and the tenant can still move in.

A studio apartment was fixed up and ready for the tenant to move it. This one was rented out before it was finished.

Installed sheetrock, mud & taped, texture, primed and painted the whole unit. Fairbanks Carpet Plus installed the flooring. Installed the cabinets, countertops and installed the sink. Built the peninsula with a breakfast bar. Trimmed out the unit. Installed a new ceiling fan and kitchen light.

Studio apartment fixed up and ready for rent. My old phone broke and I was not able to recover the before photos.

Sheetrock patch on the ceiling, painted the unit (it was blue and gray before), new flooring by Fairbanks Carpet Plus and the bathroom freshened up.

The main sewer line froze. Golden Heart Utilities was quick to come out and thaw the main line. Glacier Point Services did a great job steaming the line from the building to the main line.

It's important to know where your sewage clean out lines are. In the winter months, they can be buried and it is a good idea to put a marker or cone there just in case of emergency.

Last hard pack, snow job of the season!!!!

If you need hard pack or your roof shoveled, I'm currently booking for the end of July to Aug right now and I can add that to my schedule 😂🤣🌞

Fairbanks, we just lived through the history books. The numbers are in, and the December to March 2025-26 season will go down as the all-time record coldest for Fairbanks since records began in 1904. With an average temperature of -13.6°F, we’ve edged out the legendary winter of 1965-66 to take the #1 spot.

This season marks a dramatic reversal from a year ago. After experiencing the second warmest December to March stretch on record last year, we saw a significant drop in temperatures this year, down to the coldest ever in Fairbanks history. It’s a powerful reminder of how variable Northern Alaska’s weather can be.

This season wasn’t just about one cold snap; it was a marathon of sub-zero endurance. Here’s a look at how this winter stacked up:

The Deep Freeze by the Numbers:

Persistence: 150 consecutive days and counting at or below freezing, marking the longest stretch the Interior has seen since the early 1970s.

Extreme Cold: We saw 31 days at or below -40°F, the fourth-highest count on record and the most since 1965. Additionally, 72 days reached at or below -20°F, and 52 days fell to at or below -30°F, with 66 days not even getting above 0°F.

Deep Snow: On top of the cold, we tallied 92.6" of snow, making this the 12th snowiest season on record.

Whether you’re celebrating the end of a record breaking winter or already missing the crisp air, one thing is certain: we earned those spring temperatures. ☀️

Did hard pack removal yesterday. Customers also had their roof shoveled and cleaned up some of the snow piles.

Message to get on my schedule before you have a foot of slush in your driveway during breakup.
