Wrapped up this one this week. We did this job 5 yrs ago to the month. Due to excessive ground water at the footing of the foundation they had a lot of settling. Upon inspection of the settling we noticed that the pavers were failing and the aggregate was pushing through. Thankfull to the dealer for warrantying the pavers. We proceeded to dig 4 feet off of the foundation down to the footing drain and installed 3/4 stone the full length of the back of the house. We compacted in lifts all the way up. We dug out all the old base and added 12 inchs of 3/4 stone for the paver base. We also dug a French drain at the end of the patio going into a dry well to help shed water away and into the ground. We also took out 5 large arborvitae along the fence line which made the whole area feel so much larger. Very fortunate to work for great clients! We are booking out for winter work now. Finally was able to wrap up this project this week. We did the first phase last summer and this phase now. This section was completely unusable and only able to mow it with a push mower due to how steep it was. The back drops off about ten to 12 feet. There was an exsisting wall built out of boulders when the house was built which we added to bringing it up about 3 feet. We then built a retaining wall connecting it to the wall we built last year to help lower the area close to the house to flatten it out. We then added 9 total steps in two sections to allow us to make the area level and then get up to the driveway. This was followed by a landing and a walkway. We also did a small upper area of pavers that will be for the garbage cans. We added 10 privet to buffer the walkway from the large drop off followed by some mulch. We were finally able to wrap up this project up after some material delays and rain. Our repeat client reached out to see if we could do something to extend the driveway and match what we did in their back yard so that people would stop running through the dirt and cracking the driveway. Mission accomplished! There was a lot of cutting and measuring to make sure the herringbone pattern lined up on the other side. Couldn’t be happier with the final product! On to the next!
