Restoring history, one curve at a time. This curved entryway had just enough of the original pieces to recreate this stunning piece—any less and it would have been impossible. 🤯

The challenge? A subtle curve requiring an 18-foot radius jig and precise three-degree angles. It’s the type of one-of-a-kind project that pushes craftsmanship to its limits. 🙌🏼

Projects like this require using similar historic techniques and methods that the original craftsmen would have used—it’s the only way to maintain authenticity and stay true to the architectural integrity.⏳

When you think you’ve seen it all, projects like this remind us why we do what we do! 🔨

We're proud to share the completion of a beautiful leaded glass window restoration project!

Our team carefully restored and reinstalled 10 steel casement windows, bringing new life to these historic architectural features. Each window was meticulously documented, disassembled, cleaned, repaired, and reassembled with attention to detail. Glazing beads were replaced as needed, and we added a laminate to the glass to help with sound mitigation. The result? Beautifully preserved windows that honor the structure's historic character while providing modern durability.

Cooper Historical Windows is excited to share details about an amazing project we just completed! The Yale Center for British Art, designed by renowned architect, Louis Kahn, houses the largest collection of British art outside the United Kingdom. Our team collaborated with to create their administrative offices in a nearby industrial building in New Haven’s historic center where we manufactured and installed custom glazed partitions designed to attenuate sound and provide privacy while transmitting light into open work spaces.

The project scope included associated millwork components such as paneling, stops, casings, baseboards, and pilaster casings to provide complete interior window and door systems. The conference room received specialized laminated Liberty Restoration Glass for aesthetic charm. ✨

Cooper Historical Windows would like to announce our completion of fenestration work on the James Dwight Dana House at Yale University. Our team carefully restored the building's historic window frames, replaced the sash with historically accurate new units, and completed finish work on the windows. We also meticulously restored the beautiful stained glass elements and reinstalled the windows.

Liberty Restoration Glass reproduced the look of the original historic glass in new, energy efficient, SDL, insulated glass units. This allowed them to upgrade the thermal performance of the windows without compromising the authentic appearance.

The end result is a beautifully restored façade that honors the architectural heritage of this 19th century Yale landmark. Kudos to our Cooper teams for their craftsmanship and commitment to preserving this historic treasure!

Thank you to National Glass Association for hosting such a successful and informative event for “Glass & Glazing Advocacy Days”. We were able to meet with members, stakeholders from government agencies, and congressional members to examine high performance glazing, bird safety, school security and workforce development. It was great to connect with individuals within our industry to exchange thoughts and discuss future plans for impactful change in our communities.

Celebrating our 2024 BuildCT Award!

Alongside Standard Builders, Inc., The Cooper Group was fortunate enough to take part in the Coxe Cage Exterior Refurbishment project. Coxe Cage is an integral part of Yale University, and this unique and challenging project underwent a major revitalization which transformed the façade to its original glory.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

2023 was an especially successful year for The Cooper Group with growth and productivity! Along with our acceptance of the Bulfinch Award and our involvement with many prestigious projects, we are also thrilled to be new members of AIA Connecticut, The Society for College and University Planning and The Society of Architectural Historians. We can only hope our involvement with these prevalent associations will continue to grow. Additionally, we are proud to be official approved manufacturers of Accoya: an ultra-high performance sustainable wood. Our achievement of high-quality products has allowed us to obtain passing test results from AAMA and NFRC. We are actively testing additional Cooper products featuring our Liberty Restoration Glass that have yet to hit the market. As we enter 2024, full steam ahead, we look forward to expanding our ongoing university work, introducing our new steel window line, and offering a new AIA accredited course.
