STORY TIME: During pool excavations, there are sometimes surprises. Here, it was an old 8’ x 16’ dry well that the homeowner had no idea existed underneath their lawn. This series of photos is a great example of identifying a problem and finding a solution. It was especially challenging due to only 8’ of access into the backyard, so only a mini-excavator and skid steer could be utilized. No dump truck or concrete truck could enter the backyard.

1️⃣We had to overdig the pool cavity to allow extra room for a bed of varied stones over the floor of pool and on the shelf where structural walls rest.
2️⃣The excavator and pool crew set, placed and graded various materials to build up grade and recreate the pool floor after old dry well block removal. This involves filling in voids, then compacting and creating pool floor shape.
3️⃣Next, the team created a block foundation wall from the bottom of the steel panels down to virgin ground in the areas of the old dry well, applying concrete reinforcement.

The pool will stand the test of time. 💪😎
