Do you own lakefront property? Are you concerned about water quality in our lakes? Join us for a Wastewater Workshop on Saturday, July 29, 10am - 12:30pm at the Glover Town Hall. Led by Cristin Ashmankas, environmental analyst for the Lake Wise program (of Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation), the workshop will share information on the options for well-functioning, onsite wastewater systems and good maintenance practices for wastewater systems on lakeshores. You will learn how you can save money and avoid costly emergency repairs while protecting our lakes and water quality with a properly managed system. Join us! The event is sponsored by the Orleans County Natural Resources Conservation District, the Town of Glover, Lake Parker Association and the Shadow Lake Association. Be Septic Smart!
A bit more about Lake Wise…. Lake Wise is a program that encourages lake-friendly living and shoreline landscaping practices that protect water quality in our lakes. Called “best management practices'' (BMPs), these landscaping approaches help mitigate the impacts of stormwater runoff on lakeshore properties. Along with septic care, BMP’s include creating “no mow” zones, revegetating shorelines, building infiltration steps, and installing water bars, swales and rain gardens.
