The 2026–2027 University of Alabama planning workshop got underway today, with the goal of connecting UA students with ABC members across the state.
This committee, along with one of Harrison’s VP’s Lance Wyatt, spent time walking through the student chapter’s mission, which is all about bridging the gap between the classroom and the construction industry. That theme carried through everything talked about today, from strengthening mentorship opportunities to making sure students have more access to real industry relationships before they graduate.
A good portion of the discussion focused on planning ahead, including the upcoming Fall and Spring calendar and membership growth. Ideas were shared around recruitment, getting more visibility on campus, and even expanding outreach beyond the usual majors to bring in students from other disciplines who are interested in the industry.
It was clear there’s a real effort to be more intentional, not just showing up, but building something that actually helps students find their place in this field.
If you’ve ever wanted to be part of that process, now’s the time. We’re building out the committee and looking for people who are willing to stay involved and help make these connections happen.
