The State of Michigan requires that any builder services totaling $600 or more must be completed by a licensed residential builder or residential maintenance and alteration contractor. Ask the residential builder or residential maintenance and alteration contractor for the “residential builder license number”. When you are provided with their 10-digit license number visit https://www.michigan.gov/bcc select “Verify A License”, then “CONSTRUCTION: RESIDENTIAL BUILDERS, ELECTRICIANS, PLUMBERS, ETC” and conduct a license search for your potential residential builder or maintenance and alteration contractor. It is important to verify that anyone you hire to do work on your home is properly licensed.

Do you know the difference between a residential builder and a residential maintenance and alteration contractor? Simply put a residential builder can build a house from the ground up. A residential maintenance and alteration contractor can perform these specific trades:

Sometimes I get a fun challenge and this one sure was!! My customer was not happy with the white 'split" sink that she had been living with, but she wanted to keep her existing granite counters. The plan was to remove the white sinks and replace them with a large, single bowl sink. I exhausted all options of trying to find the 'perfect' fit until I came across a company that carves custom sinks out of granite. I sent the specifications, waited about 6+ months for production and here it is-Absolute Black Granite Sink. At 300 pounds, I welcomed the help of Stratus Marble & Granite to cut the new hole to size and install! It is a beautiful addition to a beautiful home! Thanks once again to my customer (you know who you are :) ) Thumbs up to Carved Stone Creations, Inc. for a perfect sink!
