Another service upgrade we did yesterday before all the rain. This was an old “Push-Matic” panel which was original to the home. Now has a new 150 amp Cutler Hammer “CH” with lifetime warranty on panel and breakers. Also a whole house surge protector

A great flyer that explains the difference between Portable Back Up Power and Automatic Stand by power. Each of them have pro's and con's.

This is a service upgrade we did this week in Norton Shores. A “handyman” did the initial work but unfortunately everything that was done electrically to this house needed to be ripped out and redone. Always be cautious of handyman performing trade specific work.

Out doing service mast repairs today due to falling ice. If you look at the pipe clamp in the third photo, you can see the previous electrical contractor used drywall screws that barely long enough. We used a 3” #14 gauge wood screw.

When hiring contractors and pulling permits, one would think that the end user (homeowner) would feel confident in the work being performed. Sadly, this is not the case now days. This is a house we recently inspected, and if you look closely you can see the approval sticker on the boiler system from the municipal inspection. It is a obvious code violation & common sense that you cannot place water lines below or above the electrical panel for working clearance reasons per Michigan Residential Code Section E3405 & NEC 110.26(A). What is going on in our inspections departments across West Michigan is sad. What is the reason to pull permits if not to ensure the work is done to code. Code is the least one can do to ensure work is done correctly, and you can always go above and beyond. It is the minimum you are allowed to do !!!

Before and after photos. This is a prime example of the 2023 Electrical Code requirement of having an exterior disconnect on all homes / buildings. Having aa rider policy “code & ordinance” along with your homeowners insurance policy will pay for these and all other code related repairs when disaster strikes. Typically they only cost $100 per year extra, but well worth the money.
