Spring weather can be unpredictable.

Our #1 priority is safety!! Here are some tips to keep you and your family safe.

Tips:

1. Make sure to have tennis shoes or boots on
2. Ensure your phones/devices are charged
3. Change/Charge your batteries in your flashlights
4. Wear bright clothing
5. Make sure you know where to shelter that is below ground if possible or the most inner part of your home away from windows and glass doorways
6. Make sure you have a supply of water

Remember belongings can be fixed/replaced but you cannot!

As many of you know, there was a confirmed derecho and tornado in our own community. Seeing people come together to help those in need begin the cleanup process shows all of us what “Iowa Nice” is all about. If you or someone you know has been affected we would like to share a few recommendations with you.

• Call your insurance agent before you file a claim, get a local contractor recommendation for a free inspection.
• Beware of storm chasing companies that are only here for a storm.
• If you receive a knock on your door, ask for local references.
• Do not sign anything, especially an authorization to repair “ATR”. These documents are an agreement between you and that company agreeing to allow them to complete work if insurance money is paid out.
• If a company offers to waive or discount your deductible, that is insurance fraud.
