Owner Mark Schaffer struck out on his own in 1977, digging basements and foundations in his hometown of Norwalk, Ohio. "The business just slowly grew," he recalled. "In the 1980s, I began doing more than foundations. I started doing small sewer lines and bought my first excavator. It grew from there, as I added a few more people and machines each year." Today, the company performs site and utility work primarily in northern Ohio.
