Spring is here—and so are ticks (with mosquitoes not far behind).

🔎 Ticks are already active: Tick season in Massachusetts ramps up in March/April and continues through summer, making April a key early-risk month. As temperatures climb and the ground thaws, ticks begin seeking hosts—often right in backyards, not just deep woods.

👉 Even with a slightly cooler start to spring in 2026, activity is expected to increase steadily through late April and May.

⚠️ Why this matters: April kicks off the first major annual peak in tick activity, Lyme disease risk rises sharply heading into late spring, and any bites happen during everyday outdoor activities

🦟 Mosquitoes: just getting started: Mosquito season is slower to ramp up, but April marks the early buildup phase. They typically become active once temps stay above ~50°F and will increase with spring rain and warmer days.
