Got a new water trailer. Now I need to get it branded with the company logo and registered. That means a trip to the dreaded DMV. On a positive note, it means a trip to see Brian over at 1DayWraps to get it branded.

8 Years ago I had a crew of guys that truly rocked. They could lay incredible quantities of cobble in a day. I once had a city inspector shut down my job because he said we had to be cheating, because in 20 years he had never seen a crew put down that much cobble in a day.

Those guys had a lot of practice. They had laid about 100,000 sf together. They set the company record 8 years ago and put down 2100 sf in a day.

Fast forward to today. I have a new crew that has only been working together for a couple weeks. They have been doing about 1800 sf a day. That is fantastic. Yesterday as a group, they approached us and said they felt they could break the record.. They didn’t want to just break it. They wanted to blow the hell out of it. They have been doing 30 yards of concrete a day. What they proposed was to do 40 yards and just beat the record by a couple hundred square feet. This would be incredible if they could do it.

Today was supposed to be the day they were going to do it. Unfortunately, Robertsons ready mix had other ideas. There’s first truck that was supposed to be there at 7 o’clock didn’t show up until 8:15 AM. It would be difficult enough if they started on time Given the heat and humidity today. Given everything I didn’t expect him or even really want them to try.

I just got a call from the job site and they were letting me know that they were in the process of putting down their third truck and we’re asking for the fourth to be sent as soon as possible. At this point, I would love to see them be able to make it just because they want it so bad. But either way I am over the moon pleased with this new crew.
