In Loving Memory of Chloe Elizabeth Lange. Our Beloved CocoMay 27, 2004 – October 29, 2026 With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we share the passing of our beloved Chloe, affectionately known to her family as Coco (Coco Puff), who left this world far too soon. Chloe was the cherished youngest daughter of Sue and Rob and the baby sister of Alexandria and Hailey. As the baby of the family, she made her presence known from the very beginning. Funny, outgoing, quick-witted, and just a little mischievous, Chloe had a way of keeping everyone on their toes. Family gatherings and outings were rarely uneventful when little Chloe was around, and it wasn't unusual for someone to find themselves carrying her away in the middle of one of her spirited protests. Those moments, once a challenge, became cherished family memories that still bring smiles and laughter. As she grew, Chloe carried that same colorful, adventurous, and fun-loving spirit with her. She was always ready for a good time, eager to try something new, and often the one encouraging others to join in. She loved to cook, explore different cuisines, and discover new flavors.

Whether sharing a meal, spending time with friends and family, or embracing a new experience, Chloe brought her own unmistakable energy to the moment. Chloe also had a wonderfully unique sense of style. From her clothing to her tattoos and piercings, she embraced her individuality and wasn't afraid to express herself. Her bubbly personality, creative spirit, and quick wit made her truly unforgettable. As Chloe grew older, life brought challenges that were not always easy for her to overcome. She faced struggles that those who loved her could not always fully understand, but through it all, she remained deeply loved by a family who never stopped caring, hoping, and wishing for brighter days ahead. Yet Chloe's struggles were never all that she was. She was the mischievous little girl who kept everyone on their toes, the young woman who loved to laugh and have fun, the adventurous spirit willing to try something new, and the daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend whose place in the lives of those who loved her can never be replaced. Chloe leaves behind her loving parents, Suzanne Madrid and Robert Lange; her sisters, Alexandria and Hailey; her nieces, Angelica and Anna; her aunts and uncles, Denise French and her husband Glenn, Marty Madrid and his wife Dana, Jim Martin and his wife Diane, Margaret Martin, and Lisa Martin, wife of the late Ross Martin; and her cousins, Jessica, Ashley, Dillon, Bailie, Darian, Sarah, Jennifer, Barbara, and Rachel.

She also leaves behind many second cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Margaret and Martin Madrid, and Robert and Elizabeth Lange; her uncles, Ross Martin and Steve Martin; and her cousin, Melissa French, the cherished firstborn daughter of Denise and Glenn French, who was welcomed into heaven at birth.Sometimes the hardest journeys belong to the hearts we love the most. Though our hearts ache that Chloe could not find the peace she searched for during her time with us, we can only hope that she has finally found a place where there is no more pain, no more struggle, and only peace. When we remember Chloe, may we remember that funny, mischievous little Coco, full of personality and life. A Heartfelt Farewell from McKenzie Funeral Home

Since 1957, McKenzie Funeral Home has proudly and graciously served the Oak Forest community and surrounding areas. For nearly seven decades, it has been our honor and privilege to walk alongside families during some of the most difficult and meaningful moments of their lives. We have been blessed to serve generations of families, share in their memories, and become a part of this wonderful community.

It is with very heavy hearts that our family has made the difficult decision to retire and close the doors of McKenzie Funeral Home as of October 31st. This decision was not made lightly, as this funeral home has been so much more than a business to us. It has been our family’s livelihood, our passion, and a commitment to serving others that has spanned generations.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to every family who has entrusted us with the care of their loved ones, to the friends who have supported us throughout the years, and to the Oak Forest community and surrounding areas that have stood by us since the beginning. Your trust, kindness, loyalty, and friendship have meant more to us than words can adequately express. You have allowed us to be part of your lives, and for that, we will always be grateful.
As we enter our older years, we feel that the time has come to step away from the responsibilities of running the funeral home and embrace the blessings that God and life still have to offer. After so many years of dedication to our work and the families we have served, we look forward to spending more time with our own family, enjoying life’s simple pleasures, making new memories, and appreciating the time God has given us.

While closing our doors brings sadness, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the many years we have been fortunate enough to serve this community. The memories, friendships, and relationships we have built since 1957 will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

In Loving Memory of Edward K. Henry

February 10, 1954 – October 27, 2026

Edward K. Henry, affectionately known as Eddie, was born on February 10, 1954, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, to Omer and Margaret (Norton) Henry. He spent the last 37 years of his life in Markham, Illinois, where he enjoyed a simple and modest life.

Eddie spent his career as a roofer and retired from the Roofers Union. He was a simple man who knew what he liked and was perfectly content living life his own way. Strong-willed and set in his ways, Eddie wasn’t one to be easily persuaded, but he always respected others and their choices. Beneath his independent spirit was a kind and generous heart, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he could.

Eddie enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—riding his motorcycle, wearing his favorite blue jeans, T-shirt, cowboy boots, and big belt buckles, and enjoying a cold, crisp Diet Pepsi. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Gretchen, who was his loyal companion for 13 years.

Eddie was the proud father of his son, Christopher Henry, who preceded him in death in December 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Margaret Henry.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Victoria; his sisters, Diane Perkins and Ruth (Jim) Porter; his brothers, Tommy Henry and Omer (Laura) Henry Jr.; his 12 nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

Eddie never needed much to be happy. He lived life on his own terms, stayed true to himself, and showed kindness in his own quiet way. He will be remembered for his strong spirit, generous heart, and the simple, genuine man he was.

Rest easy, Eddie. May the roads ahead be endless, the Diet Pepsi always cold, and Gretchen forever by your side.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Johnathan Kirk on October 10, 2026.

Mike was the kind of person who always seemed to show up when you least expected it — bringing a big smile, a big heart, and a willingness to listen. If you didn’t feel like talking, he’d question you anyway, just to make sure you were okay. His presence had a way of making the world feel a little lighter.

He was happiest working as an EMT, probably because he loved flashing the lights and sirens — but more importantly, because he cared deeply about helping people. His compassion, humor, and steady calm made him a truly exceptional EMT, and he took pride in serving others.

Mike will be missed greatly by his parents, Nancy Kirk and Bryan Kirk (Pam Cook), his brother Jason Kirk. He is also survived by his Grandmother Deborah Kirk, Great Uncle Glenn Bohn, Uncle Todd DeRouin(Tabatha), Uncle Dan Kirk(Michelle), Aunt Kelly Gamble(Aaron), his cat Gismo and was a loving cousin to many.

He is now reunited with his sister Peyton Kirk, great Aunt Nancy Bohn, Grandpa Will Kirk, Grandma Bonnie DeRouin, all of whom he loved dearly.

Mike loved remote control helecopters, rock climbing, and laser tag. He also enjoyed gaming and will be remembered as Little Mikey, Mike, Michael, or Mikeman94 by all of his gaming friends, who knew him as loyal, funny, and always ready for one more round.

Rest in peace, Mike. Your final alarm has sounded, and your shift is complete.

Dorothy Ann Kogut, née Snarski, passed away on October 13, 2026, in Oak Forest at the age of 93. She was born on July 28, 1933, in Chicago, and lived a life defined by devotion, love, and deep commitment to her family.

Dorothy was a high school graduate who dedicated herself to her home and family as a housewife. She was known as a loving and devoted woman, and those qualities shaped the life she built and the relationships she treasured. Her family was the center of her world, and among her proudest accomplishments were her children, her grandchildren, and the blessing of being married for 70 years.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward Kogut, with whom she shared seven decades of marriage. She also leaves behind her children, Marilyn Blake, Edward Kogut, and Tom Kogut. Dorothy’s family circle also includes her son-in-law, Steve Blake, and her daughters-in-law, Barbara Kogut and April Kogut. Her love continues through her grandchildren, Robert Laverty, Jay Blake, Joey Kogut, Jacqueline Kogut, Alex Kogut, and Zack Kogut, and through her great-grandchild, Diana Laverty. The family she nurtured so faithfully stands as a lasting reflection of the loving and devoted life she lived.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Sophie Snarski; her father, Henry Snarski; and her brother, Eddie Snarski.

She will be remembered with love for her steady devotion, her caring heart, and the strength of the family she helped create. Her memory will remain a comfort and a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

In Loving Memory of Jessica

Jessica Marie Matusik, age 35 of Joliet, formerly of Oak Forest, passed away suddenly on October 4th, 2026 .

Born on September 29th, 1991, Palos Heights. Jessica was the beloved daughter of Jeff Matusik ( Patti Huzl Schmidt ) & Tracy Matusik-Barkauskas, (née Specht), Dan Barkauskas. Beloved sister of Christopher Matusik, Taylor Barkauskas, Nick Barkauskas and Mike Barkauskas. Granddaughter of Ron and Virginia Specht.

Throughout her life, Jessica touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and laugh, nurturing & fun loving personality, and willful strength.

Jessica found joy in music, dancing, her family and friends, gardening and most of all, spending time with her dogs.

Jessica leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories cherished by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and lots of great friends.

She was preceded in death by Grandparents Walter and Donna Matusik.

Those who knew Jessica will forever carry her in their hearts. Although her time with us has come to an end, the love, laughter, and memories she gave us will live on forever.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th, 2026 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm with a prayer service starting at 5:30pm at McKenzie Funeral Home, 15618 S Cicero Ave, Oak Forest, IL 60452

In lieu of flowers, any monetary gifts will be donated to an animal welfare charity.

Aurora Tenorio Mendez
January 6, 1930 – September 22, 2026

Aurora Tenorio Mendez, 96, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Born on January 6, 1930, Aurora was a proud graduate of Martin High School in Laredo, Texas. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Aurora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Adam Mendez Sr.; her parents, Luisa Medina and Rodolfo Tenorio Sr.; her sisters, Alicia T. Ramirez, Elisa Campos, and Soledad Castillo; her brothers, Raul Garcia and Patricio Campos; and her nephew, Arturo Ramirez Jr.

She is survived by her son, Adam Mendez; her grandchildren, John, Joseph, and Natalie; her granddaughter-in-law, Melinda; her grandson-in-law, David; and her great-grandchildren, Addison, Mason, and Aiden. She is also survived by her niece, Alma R. Ortiz; great-niece, Raquel Ortiz; and great-nephews, Ramiro Ortiz Jr., John A. Lenington, and Abel Ramirez, along with extended family and loved ones.

Aurora adored her grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great joy in watching her family grow. She lovingly welcomed their spouses and children into the family and cherished the special relationships she shared with each of them.

She was also a wonderful cook who took great pride and pleasure in preparing food for the people she loved. Her kitchen was a place where family gathered, stories were shared, and love was expressed through every meal. Aurora also had a special love for animals, another reflection of her gentle and caring nature.

Those who knew Aurora will remember a woman whose greatest joy was her family. Her love, traditions, recipes, stories, and the countless moments she shared with those around her will continue to live on through the generations.

Though she will be deeply missed, Aurora’s family takes comfort in knowing that her life was filled with love and that her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

She was deeply loved, she will be greatly missed, and she will never be forgotten.

Charlann Madsen (née Fredrickson)

Charlann Madsen, née Fredrickson, was a deeply loved mother, Nana, and great-grandmother whose life was centered around the family she loved. She leaves behind generations of family, countless memories, and a presence that will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Charlann was born to Elizabeth and Elmer Fredrickson and was their only child. Born and raised in Oak Forest, Illinois, she was a longtime clerk at Motto’s Foods and later White Hen Pantry, where she became a familiar face to many in the community.

Charlann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anton “Tony” Madsen, and her granddaughter, Joyce, who passed away far too young.

Charlann and Tony shared a wonderful life together. They traveled, made countless memories, and Tony spoiled her every chance he got. She deeply missed him after his passing, and her family finds comfort in knowing they are together again.

Charlann was the proud mother of Edward (Debra) Swanson, Shirley Swanson, and Beth (Butch) Swanson.

One of her greatest joys was being Nana. She was the proud grandmother of Heather (Alex), whom she raised as her own daughter, Lauryn, Tim (Rebecca), Tristian (Calie), Joyce, and Samantha (Taylor), and the extremely proud great-grandmother of her namesake, Charleigh Anne, Johnny, Addy, Tay, Salem, and Cable.

Charlann leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry pieces of her with them always. She was Mom, Nana, and Great-Nana, and the space she held in the lives of those who loved her can never truly be filled.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered always.

Michael James O'Connor, age 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Mike was the devoted husband of Susan Carole O'Connor for 51 wonderful years. Together they built a loving family and shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unwavering commitment. He was the cherished son of the late James and Marie O'Connor, beloved brother of Rita Sarney and the late Marie "Tootsie" Morgan, and a proud father to Jeanine Holubecki and Kevin O'Connor.

Nothing brought Mike greater joy than his role as grandfather to his five beloved grandchildren, Mia, Sara, and Grace Holubecki, and Peyton and Kelly O'Connor. He took great joy in following their lives, asking about their activities, celebrating their accomplishments, and sharing in the milestones that made each of them unique.

Mike dedicated 40 years of service to the Chicago Transit Authority, where he built a respected career through hard work, integrity, and leadership. He retired in 2014 as a Maintenance Manager, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and professionalism that earned the respect of his colleagues and friends.

Outside of work, Mike embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends, faithfully cheered on his favorite teams, the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and looked forward each year to attending the Indianapolis 500, a tradition he cherished for many years. He never passed up an opportunity to gather with family and friends. Mike was happiest sharing stories, enjoying a cold beverage, and filling a room with laughter at his favorite local tavern. His warm personality, quick wit, and genuine kindness made him a friend to many and ensured that those around him always felt welcome.

Mike will be remembered for his love of family, his steadfast loyalty, his sense of humor, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home in Oak Forest, followed by funeral services on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.May he rest in peace.

Audrey Cunningham (nee Bylin), 90, of Oak Forest, passed away at Clarendale of Mokena on September 20, 2026. She was a devout wife, mother and grandmother who loved to shop, sew, and quilt. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Vince Cunningham, sister, Dolores (Al) Stampanato, and many friends. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen, Son, Michael (Jolene), grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly), Erin, Nichole (Jake), and Grace, step-grandchildren, Charlie, Steve, and Alexandra, and great grandchildren, Colton, Mason, Bailey, Madison, Weston, and Landon. Funeral mass will be held on September 23, 2026 at 10:00 am at St Damian Catholic Church, 5250 155th St, Oak Forest, IL 60452. Committal will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W 111th St, Alsip, IL 60803. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Dementia Society of America.
