PSA to all friends and family who have reached out to me asking if Restoration Maintenance can help with your homes that have been flooded.
We are deploying emergency response teams to Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Tampa, and surrounding areas.
VERY IMPORTANT:
First and foremost, flood water is contaminated and could potentially have very serious contaminates that can be extremely harmful to your health. The last thing you want to do is put dehumidifiers and fans in your home and blow at that around. Laminate flooring, carpet, wood flooring, etc should be removed. Any drywall and porous materials should all be removed, NOT dried out.
Unfortunately this can be very time consuming and in most cases leave you out of your home for an extended period of time.
So what should you do?
- Document all damage. Take pictures and videos of every room affected.
- Check with your insurance agent to see if you have Flood insurance. Your regular home insurance carrier does not cover you for rising water. You’ll need a separate flood insurance policy.
- Extract standing water from your home. Do not remove anything from your home until you have verified insurance coverage.
- Hire a trusted remediation company who has knowledge with flood insurance damage and knows what they are doing. Anyone telling you they can dry it out without removing is either not knowledgeable or is misleading you and will do work that your insurance company WILL NOT COVER. That can leave you footing the entire bill.
Be patient. There is more damage throughout the entire state of Florida than we have seen in decades if not more.
Feel free to share this and if anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to give advice even if it’s not my company doing the work. Restoration Maintenance
