How deep does a front porch have to be before you can actually use it?
Most front porches run four or five feet. That is enough for a landing and not enough for furniture. This one is eight feet, which leaves room for chairs, a swing on one end, and a small table with a couple of chairs around it. Extending a porch a couple of feet while it is still on paper costs very little. Deciding you want the space after construction means redoing work that is already built.
