To most people a truck is just that… a truck, a big heavy piece of steel that no one wants to get stuck behind going down the road… but to us it’s much more than that. It’s not only the backbone to our business… but our family as well. International trucks have been a part of our family for almost 25 years. Sure Rick had bought many different vehicles for Rick’s landscaping over the years… some affectionately named after Austin Powers characters… others our first lesson in fuel preservation (me and my brothers drove a gas hog of a dump truck to school at first!). But none of them held a place in our family like his International… dubbed the “Inty” by any and all who drove it, this truck was where we learned some of life’s most important lessons about hard work and determination. We learned to drive stick in the old girl, it’s where we gained our love of Navistars 7.3 turbo diesel, whipping around town like it was a sports car (sorry dad). Our friends, family, and countless employees spent thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of miles behind the wheel.
So this winter as we were looking at our options for an addition to our fleet a friend sent me the marketplace ad (yes ladies his countless hours of marketplace scrolling is 100% worth it) I knew I had to have it. I needed to bring an international orange diamond to our driveway to continue the legacy and give my kids the wheels to carry on our families love for our “Intys”.
If you see this shined-up beauty passing through your town (still waiting for the perfect nickname), chances are we’re headed to help a neighbor bring a dream to life. This truck has become a symbol of who we are— behind the wheel is a team that truly loves what we do. The long days, the early mornings, the attention to every detail.
Thanks to Leighton Sign Works for the amazing lettering job… including the most important part, the next generation of Silva’s on the drivers door.
