Design excellence: Even the humblest job involves design choices that should be considered carefully. Too often, good design is treated as a “high end” professional speciality outside of the range of routine, small job construction. To the contrary, even the simplest and smallest jobs can incorporate good design principles, and reflect the needs and preferences of the client rather than the convenience and haste of the contractor. I work primarily in three capacities:
1. Renovation
2. Repair
3. Improvement
Repairs: Quality repair work is not always easy to acheive, and it is critical that causes of the problems are accurately diagnosed and corrected. Otherwise, the repair will not last. Improvements: Wise improvements require a sensitivity to the strengths and weaknesses of the existing structure and should be performed with care.
