This role is responsible for leading complex landscape bids, mentoring estimating teams, supporting business development efforts, and partnering with operations to help ensure successful project delivery.

What we're looking for:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Landscape Architecture
• 10+ years of estimating experience in commercial landscape construction
• Strong knowledge of landscape means and methods, irrigation systems, plant materials, soils, and hardscape
• Experience with estimating software, with HeavyBid preferred
• Valid California Driver's License

McGuire and Hester was proud to sponsor a Cal Poly Construction Management service learning project at Willow Creek Conservancy.

The student team recently completed construction of two composting outhouses, including foundation work, framing, siding, roofing, trim, doors, exterior staining, and an outdoor platform for a water dispenser.

This project gave students valuable hands-on experience in planning, coordination, problem solving, and field construction while supporting sustainable sanitation practices at the conservancy.

We are grateful to support opportunities that help future builders gain real-world experience while giving back to the community.

Recently, McGuire and Hester employees from across the field and all departments came together for our biannual Safety Meeting at our Sacramento and Oakland Offices.

The days focused on reviewing trending safety topics, introducing new safety equipment, and reinforcing the practices that help keep our teams safe every day. We also took the opportunity to recognize outstanding employees and celebrate top-performing projects.

Events like these are an important part of strengthening our safety culture, sharing knowledge, and recognizing the people who lead by example in the field and beyond. Team members also enjoyed a raffle featuring a variety of prizes, adding to a day focused on engagement, learning, and appreciation.

We recently had the pleasure of attending Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School's College Reveal Day, and we could not be prouder partners.

This year's graduating class achieved an incredible milestone, with 100% of seniors accepted to college, earning admission to nearly 300 institutions across 35 states and securing more than $8 million in scholarships.

Among these outstanding students is our very own Xaiona, who has spent her senior year making an impact as an intern with the McGuire and Hester Marketing team. It was an honor to celebrate alongside her as she received her award and GPA cord, recognizing her hard work, dedication, and academic achievement.

This fall, Xaiona will attend Xavier University of Louisiana, where she plans to study Biology/Pre-Med. We are excited to see all that she accomplishes in the years ahead.

Recently, our McGuire and Hester team spent the day giving back at the Oakland Boys & Girls Club, helping create a brighter and more welcoming space for local children and families.

What started as a volunteer day became a true team effort driven by hard work, creativity, and community pride. Together, crews moved 125 cubic yards of mulch, mixed and placed 10,000 pounds of concrete across 3 days, built new playground features, painted a mural, installed garden boxes, and created spaces where kids can learn, play, and grow.

These moments are a reminder that the work we do extends beyond the jobsite. Building strong communities starts with investing in the people and places around us, and we’re proud to have played a small part in creating something meaningful for Oakland families.

A major milestone at the BeWell Campus in San Joaquin County.

Project partners, team members, and community representatives from San Joaquin County recently came together to celebrate the topping out of Building B, marking significant progress on a facility that will expand mental health and wellness resources throughout the region.

Team members from both the field and office signed the final beam before it was lifted into place, recognizing the shared effort and collaboration that continues to move this project forward. With structural steel provided and erected by The Herrick Corporation, the event marked another major step toward bringing this important facility to life.

The event also included a team BBQ and remarks highlighting the impact this campus will have on the community for years to come.

Construction Safety Week is also an opportunity to invest in continued learning and hands-on training.

Through our internal Safety Round-Up events in Sacramento and Oakland, McGuire and Hester brings together crews, safety professionals, and industry partners for interactive training focused on real jobsite safety practices. From PPE demonstrations and equipment education to wellness resources and field safety recognition, the goal is simple, build safety into everything we do.

These trainings help strengthen our safety culture, reinforce accountability, and give our teams the tools and knowledge to work safely every day.
