This family didn't have that problem. They went 40x120 from the start:

The forecast cone shows up and everybody starts moving equipment.

Tractors, trailers, the boat, the mower, whatever's been living out in the open since spring. All of it has to go somewhere, and "somewhere" is usually a friend's barn or a tight spot beside the house.

Or it's already under your own roof and you don't think about it at all.

Three roofs on one building, and every one of them is doing a job.

The center gable is your working space — tacking up, hay, the tractor, whatever needs to be under cover and out of the way. Either side of it, a 12' lean-to running the full 36 feet. That's where the horses go when the sun gets mean.
