At the end of this month, the state’s minimum wage will increase, and continue to do so for the next five years. Effective September 30, 2021, the hourly minimum wage will rise from $8.65 to $10.00. As part of Constitutional Amendment No. 2 that Florida voters approved in the 2020 election, the state’s minimum wage will continue to increase each year until it reaches $15.00 per hour in the year 2026.
This amendment means that employers will be required to pay employees a minimum wage of $10.00 per hour, starting at the end of September 30, 2021. The minimum wage will then increase by $1.00 each year through September 30, 2026, as shown in the schedule below.
· $11.00 on September 30, 2022
· $12.00 on September 30, 2023
· $13.00 on September 30, 2024
· $14.00 on September 30, 2025
· $15.00 on September 30, 2026

Minimum Wage Impacts Tipped Employees
Florida’s “tipped” employees who receive a portion of their income from customer gratuities will also see minimum wage increases. On September 30, the hourly minimum wage rate for tipped employees will increase to $6.98. Minimum wages for tipped employees will also increase by a dollar per year through 2026 according to the following schedule:
· $7.98 on September 30, 2022
· $8.98 on September 30, 2023
· $9.98 on September 30, 2024
· $10.98 on September 30, 2025
· $11.98 on September 30, 2026
