For me, painting murals isn’t just about adding color to a space; it’s about creating an atmosphere that inspires, uplifts, and resonates with those who inhabit it.
My journey painting murals started after the challenges of lockdown in 2020. My normal income from art fairs had come to a complete halt and being stuck inside, I also realized the profound impact that our surroundings have on our mental health and resilience. That’s why I’m so passionate about bringing beauty and inspiration into the places we live and work.
I remember feeling the urge to paint every wall in my house, but my landlord had other plans. When I finally had the opportunity to paint my new home, I poured my heart into it, knowing the transformative power of art. Soon, I found myself painting murals in commercial spaces, helping others infuse their environments with creativity and joy.
I love how murals are more than just a modern trend; they’re a nod to our ancient tradition of storytelling through visuals. Murals are the first examples of art we have in this world, as our ancestors would paint their caves and tell their stories on the walls of their homes— both to document and decorate.
Each mural tells a unique story, blending timeless motifs with contemporary aesthetics.
Take a look at this mural I designed last year for a project in Queretaro, Mexico. It was never painted, as my client and I ultimately went a different direction with the space but I love how this one turned out. I took inspiration from music and used a color palette that creates a sense of connection. This mural design not only celebrates the value of a melody but also creates a unique and memorable space with so much more character.
