Yard Idea 7! Fixing that Awkward Side Yard!🌿

Side yards are one of the most slept-on spots in a yard.

I love turning these into usable, good-looking spaces instead of dead zones.

Whether you’re looking for a space to reset (sauna, anyone?)

Smart storage (my surfboard shed was a game changer)

Or somewhere that’s not just a dumping ground,

I’ve seen and designed it all!

It doesn’t have to be big, just well thought out.

It’s not always about fitting as much as possible! 👉🏼It’s Day 2 of my 12 days of Yard Ideas and we’re talking space planning!

As a landscape designer, I want your space to feel good and make your life easier.

The outdoor kitchen is by the back door so you can grab your steaks and throw them on the grill quickly.

The lounge is slightly elevated for sight-lines, making it easier to watch the kids or talk to the crew at the dining table.

The fountain? Pure vibes and a little white noise to soften the whole space.

Function, flow, connection points all matter.

It just has to match your style, how you actually use your yard, and what you’re comfortable spending.

Budget talk isn’t about limits !! It’s about making smart choices that feel like you.

Every zone in this yard was planned around how we actually live.

👉🏼The fire pit faces the whirlpool bath for easy chats.

👉🏼The waterfall bar by the outdoor kitchen is perfect for laying out food.

👉🏼The turf? It’s where my daughter practices her soccer skills💪🏼 and we lounge by the pool.

👉🏼The dining deck gets the most shade, perfect for lunch after sunny lounging.

That’s what a good landscape plan does!

It’s not about fitting stuff, it’s about making it all work.

Design it right, and you’ll actually use your yard.
