🚨 CW: Animal Hoarding & Neglect 🚨

The recent discovery of 36 Border Collies living in deplorable conditions in a Florida home has brought animal hoarding back into the spotlight.

Animal hoarding is more than having too many pets. Research has found connections between animal hoarding and the same patterns of attachment, difficulty letting go, and lack of insight that can occur with other forms of hoarding.

But understanding how hoarding develops does not excuse neglect.

When the number of animals becomes greater than someone’s ability to safely care for them, the consequences can be devastating for both the animals and the people living in the home.

Our hearts are with the animals involved in this case and the people working to get them healthy, safe, and into better living conditions. ❤️

If you’re concerned about an animal’s well-being, don’t ignore it. Contact your local animal control agency, humane society, or animal welfare organization. Early intervention can make a difference.

🚨 CW: Hoarding + Biohazards 🚨

This is one of our most severe cases of hoarding so far. Not because of the amount of items, but because of the biohazards.

This customer has been without running water for over a year. Once the toilets were full, they resorted to using their bathtub.

We were hired to remediate the biohazards only, which means we had to leave the hoarding alone for now. While this was difficult, we are very glad to report that our customer has a great support system that will get their home back into safer living conditions.

This is the unfortunate reality of what can happen when hoarding goes without intervention for long periods of time. We are grateful that our customer reached out for help, and that we were able to provide that for them. Everyone deserves care, respect, and a safe place to live. It’s okay to ask for help when you need it. This is a judgement-free zone, always. 💙
