If it is your dream to add on to the house? Consulting with a general contractor is a good start. But not necessarily the best one. We recommend a visit to an interior designer.
First, they are educated with knowledge, vision and detail giving you a much broader scope to work with. Second, they can help you make the final decisions. Those decisions that you make are the ones you end-up living with!
