Did you know fall can be one of the best times to plant in Connecticut?

As temperatures cool, newly planted trees and shrubs aren't dealing with the same heat stress they face during summer. The soil can remain warm while air temperatures become more moderate, giving roots time to establish before winter.

So if you've been thinking about updating your landscape, you don't necessarily need to wait until spring! Late summer is a great time to start planning what you'd like to change!

Thin lawn after a hot July?

Mid-August through mid-September is one of the best times to repair thin or damaged lawns.

A patchy lawn can be caused by:
• Summer heat and drought
• Heavy foot traffic
• Compacted soil
• Shade
• Weeds competing with the grass

The right solution depends on why your lawn is struggling, whether that's reseeding bare spots, overseeding thin areas, or addressing compacted soil.

The key? Fix the reason your lawn is struggling, not just the symptoms!
