Prepped & Ready for the Gorgeous PebbleSheen!

The preparation is just as important as the finish itself!

Before applying the PebbleSheen, we thoroughly rinse the entire pool, vacuum all debris and loose material from the walls and floor. We then acid wash the pool shell to properly prepare the surface for the new interior finish.

Finally, all pool fittings, lights, and main drains are carefully sealed and protected before the PebbleSheen installation begins.

The shell is prepped, the details are handled, and we’re ready for the transformation! Pictures of the completed interior coming this afternoon!

Good morning and Happy Monday!

There’s a right way and a wrong way to install pool tile and coping—and the difference can make a big impact down the road.

As pictured, the correct process starts with parging the walls to create a smooth, flat surface for the tile. This helps correct imperfections in the pool wall and allows the installer to properly use a notched trowel to apply thinset. We then water level the beam and install form to mud the top of the pool shell to create a perfectly level surface to install the coping.

Thinset is designed to be applied at the proper thickness—not used to fill large voids behind the tile.

Unfortunately, we still see installers placing a large “ball” of thinset behind the tile and pressing it into place, essentially skipping the parging process and using thinset to make up for an uneven wall.

This can contribute to moisture and calcium buildup behind the tile, grout failure, and eventually loose or falling tiles.

Sometimes “cheaper” can cost you much more down the road.
