“Licensed & Insured” sounds good… but is it actually true?

Insurance in New York is absolutely through the roof right now. We get it. Legitimate contractors are paying a small fortune just to keep the doors open and stay properly covered.

But here’s the thing—high insurance premiums don’t give anyone a free pass to lie to customers about their coverage.

If you say you’re insured, you should be insured for the actual work you’re doing. General liability, Workers’ Comp, proper limits—it all matters.

Nothing is more frustrating than watching a homeowner get burned, then seeing another legitimate contractor have to come in and clean up the mess.

Cheap bids can get expensive real quick when the job has to be done twice.

Ask for the certificate. Verify the coverage. Check the reputation.

Doing business the right way isn’t cheap. Doing it the wrong way can cost a whole lot more.

We started in 2009 with pretty much nothing—just a willingness to work, learn, and figure things out as we went.

17 years later, we’ve learned a lot.

We’ve learned that mistakes will happen, but what matters is how you handle them.

We’ve learned that good employees are worth their weight in gold, and the people beside you can make or break a business.

We’ve learned that not every job is worth taking and not every customer is the right fit—and that’s okay.

We’ve learned that equipment can be replaced, money comes and goes, and there will always be another project…but your reputation follows you everywhere.

We’ve learned that growth isn’t always about getting bigger. Sometimes it’s about getting better—better systems, better work, better decisions, and higher standards.

Most importantly, we’ve learned that you never really “make it.” There’s always something new to learn, something to improve, and another challenge waiting around the corner.

From starting with nothing in 2009 to where we are today, it definitely hasn’t been an easy road—but we wouldn’t trade the lessons, the people, or the journey for anything.

Think about it…

⛽ You get gas — you pay before you leave.
🛒 You buy groceries — you pay at checkout.
🍔 You eat at a restaurant — you pay before walking out.
🔧 You take your vehicle to the mechanic — you pay before getting your keys back.
🏨 You stay at a hotel — your card is on file before you get the room.
✂️ You get a haircut — you pay when the service is finished.
📦 You order something online — you pay before it even ships.

But contractors?

We purchase the materials.
We pay our employees.
We fuel the trucks and equipment.
We pay insurance, taxes, suppliers, disposal fees, maintenance, and overhead.

Then we complete the work…and somehow it’s become normal for contractors to wait 30, 60, 90 days—or sometimes MONTHS—to get paid.

When the work is completed according to the agreement, paying your contractor promptly shouldn’t be considered a favor—it’s simply part of doing business.

Support the businesses that show up, do the work, and keep their word.

And when the job is done… pay them.

Every year it’s the same…

The forecast calls for the first big snowfall, and our phone starts ringing with people looking for snow removal.

And even though we would LOVE to say yes to every single call📞
👉🏼The hard truth is this: by then, it’s usually too late.

We build our routes before winter arrives so we can provide reliable, timely service to every customer. Taking on last-minute accounts after the snow starts flying isn’t fair to our existing customers—or to the new ones expecting dependable service.

The first snowfall isn’t the time to start looking for a snow contractor—it’s the time to already have one.

Waiting until there’s already a significant snowfall can also increase the risk of property damage. When driveway edges, curbs, sidewalks, landscaping, decorative stone, and other obstacles are completely buried, it’s much harder for any contractor—especially one unfamiliar with your property—to know exactly where everything begins and ends. Having a contractor who has already visited your property before the season starts and who maintains it throughout the winter helps reduce those risks- so when spring rolls around, you aren’t left with a mess!

If you’re thinking about snow removal for your home or business this winter, now is the time to reach out and reserve your spot before our routes are full.

Not every contractor is in business for the same reason.

Some are chasing the next paycheck. Others are building a reputation that will outlast any single job.

The right contractor isn’t the one who tells you what you want to hear—it’s the one who tells you what you need to hear. They’ll recommend the right solution, even if it’s not the most profitable one. They’ll stand behind their work, communicate honestly, and treat your home or business with the same care they’d expect for their own.

When choosing a contractor, don’t make your decision on price alone.

Look for integrity. Look for experience. Look for craftsmanship. Look for someone whose reputation is built on doing the right thing—even when no one is watching.

And when you find those businesses, support them. Recommend them to your friends and family. Leave them a review. Share their work. Word of mouth is one of the greatest compliments a small business can receive, and it helps honest, hardworking companies continue serving their communities the right way.
