Congratulations Dan Evans
33 Years with M J Painting
Today Dan Evans celebrates 33 years of employment with M J Painting!
He joins Tom Blazejewski a retired employee who served 33 years at MJP as well. Dan’s intent is to beat Tom’s time of employment with MJP. We will have to wait and see.
Dan has a lot of stories to shared with his out-of-town history doing Burger King Restaurants and Uni-Mart Convenient Gas Stations (to mention a couple) in multiple states each year.
As he was sent out to manage hotel expenses, fuel for his truck, and any emergencies, with just a credit card line of $300.00, there were times we had to make daily and weekly payments to the credit card to keep him in business.
One time Dan and his copartner Eddie App were in the suburbs of Pittsburgh PA and discovered they were going the wrong way on the road and needed to make a left hand turn to go the right way.
At that time, the nation was facing threats of terrorist truck bombs, and the nation was on high alert. Dan, not realizing the headline news, decided to pull into a Nuclear Energy Site with a large cargo truck with two men wearing beards trying to find the perfect spot to turn the cargo truck around. Seconds later they were stopped by a swat team, rifles pulled, and demanded the 2 to get out of the truck for a full body and truck search.
Another story, Dan was in New Jersey painting an exterior Burger King Restaurant and a guy with a badge hollered and said "you are not registered to work in the state of NJ. Please come down from the ladder and stop work immediately." The agent told Dan he also has the right to impound his truck.
Dan gave him my business card and told him to call his boss. I talked with the agent and insured him I will do whatever we need to do to make it right with the state of NJ. I had to send a wire of $2,500.00 that day, and from that point forward we are now registered in 20 states throughout the country.
Dan over the decades has become a master painter serving hundreds of customers with no call backs. He is proud how he stocks up his truck so when he pulls into a job, he has everything he needs at his fingertips to manage the job properly.
