1st time "raising" a house as part of the renovation process. This year we'll have 2! We are moving this house up 4 feet to get it out of the flood plain as it overlooks the Chesapeake Bay and has flooding in the past. We will be updating the crawl space, adding a new 2nd floor covered roof over the existing deck, and will upgrade all the siding and features. The rear 1 story addition was already 2 feet higher than the existing 1st floor, so we are detaching it from the main house will lower that section to be all on the same level. New stairs and an outdoor lift will allow for aging in place.

Just starting work on this 1928 home in historic Highland Beach MD. We were amazed by the interiors that have remained virtually untouched over the years and has many of the original materials, colors, and features still intact. The house is up the street from the Frederick Douglas house, and this was designed by a widow who was apparently a graduate from the Parsons School of Design.

We love this transformation. Not every project is large, but this little addition certainly makes an impression from the street and also gives some much-needed cover over the main entry to the home. By simply following the existing roof lines and providing some brackets, a little paint on the existing brick, and some stone cladding round the entrance, this addition makes a statement.

From creation to reality, we spend the time to meet both with our clients and builders to make sure every detail is done correctly. Today I was asked out to work on the roof transition and low parapet wall to avoid potential leaks and make sure the final details match the vision. Thanks to Alan Newcomer from the Kent Construction Group for the on-site assistance today.

Our Heavy Timber Workshop addition. Window and doors still need to be cut in, but we are please to see this project underway. The architecture was easy for this project, but getting the zoning approved for this addition took some time. Creative attachments to the existing house and careful site placement to work around the existing well and septic system allowed this project to proceed forward. Sliding the house to the left and behind existing landscaping helps to lower the scale and will keep the rear yard open to the rest of the house.

Nice to see our latest custom home under construction. In Davidsonville. This 4,200 square foot home will feature 5 bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms, a 10-foot 1st floor ceiling, and a separate office area over the garage. A full walkout basement in the rear will lead to a future inground pool.

Our latest custom home being built in Annapolis area - construction pictures soon to follow. In addition to a finished basement, we included a secondary staircase that allows the owners to have a separate office built over the garage.

Bay Area Kent Island Satellite Church - We helped them take an abandoned physical therapy gym, we filled in the pool for the main sanctuary space and then bult out the remaining spaces for classrooms, office, and entry foyer with greeting cafe. Now ready to open for Easter. A few before and after photos. As part of the main sanctuary space, we created a rear overhead rolling door where a custom-made rolling AV desk can be moved out into the main space so they can control lights, video, and speakers for the praise band. When not in use, it rolls back out of sight.

Day in the life of an architect! Walked all of these home this morning that we are working on - All within the same subdivision. In order of the pictures posting: 1.) Existing house to receive a primary bedroom and bathroom extension to the front of the house, reviewed preliminary designs today 2.) Second Chance starting the "deconstruction" of our next remodel, instead of tearing down the house they will remove and retain as much of the house as they can for other consumers and then we will add a new second floor to this home and renovate the balance of the existing home 3.) We remodeled this entire house in 2017 top to bottom and added an expanded kitchen and dining room out the rear, now we are adding a 4th bedroom and bathroom to the second floor. 4.) and our latest custom home almost completed the "live edge" custom front door and the rear of the house, almost ready to move into!
