Today, the staff of 1-800-BoardUp of Omaha Metro and BELFOR Property Restoration of Omaha pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who lost their lives on September 11, twenty-four years ago.

We are sharing a powerful post from the International Association of Fire Fighters that speaks to the incredible legacy of the heroes we lost that day. Their spirit of public service lives on through the family members who have since become firefighters, carrying the torch of courage and dedication.

Be safe and NEVER FORGET!

Inspired by their parents’ legacy, a new generation of IAFF members are answering the call in New York City.

Our team members deal with the aftermath of various emergencies on a daily basis, recently our team members at 1-800-BoardUp of Omaha Metro Area and
BELFOR Property Restoration of Omaha were faced with two separate, life-or-death situations that hit close to home.

In less than a three week period, three of our team members had to put their weekly safety training to the ultimate test.

In both incidents, our crews were the first on the scene, performing hands-only CPR on someone who had collapsed until first responders arrived.

Sadly, despite the heroic efforts of our team members, neither person survived. We want to take a moment to honor and recognize these team members for their selfless and commendable actions. They asked not to be named, but their dedication to helping others—on and off the job—is a true inspiration.

These two events are a powerful reminder that you never know when someone might need your help. We urge you to take a CPR class through your local American Red Cross Chapter or the American Heart Association. The life you save might be a stranger's, a friend's or even a loved one's.

1-800-BoardUp of Omaha Metro Area is proud to continue supporting the Tri-Mutual Aid Firefighters Association (TMA) with their training needs!

Recently, we were able to provide more than 250 wooden blocks for use with TMA's Forcible Entry Door Training Prop. This effort, a collaboration with our BELFOR Property Restoration technicians, will help member fire departments with their training evolutions.

We're proud to support the TMA and their commitment to providing essential training to their members!

On Saturday, August 9th, 1-800-BoardUp of Omaha Metro Area responded to the Blair area after severe early morning thunderstorms caused widespread damage in Washington and Douglas counties.

Our team, including our Director of Emergency Services, a loss consultant, and our on-call board-up crew, was dispatched after a request came in through the dispatch center. We staged at a Blair Volunteer Fire & Rescue while our team assessed damages and assisted residents with requests for our services.

The storm caused significant damage to homes and businesses from wind, water, and fallen trees. We were also made aware of reports of individuals trapped in vehicles and campers at two separate campgrounds due to fallen trees, which tragically resulted in one fatality. One campground was in Washington and the other in Douglas County.

In addition to providing services like covering damaged roofs for residents, our team worked with the American Red Cross Serving Nebraska and Southwest Iowa to provide updates to them on damage assessments and help needed by displaced residents from a manufactured home community.

After almost 13 hours on the scene, our crews returned home. We are proud to have been able to serve the communities affected by this severe weather event.

What a night with the Blair Volunteer Fire & Rescue ! Our 1-800-BoardUp of Omaha Metro Area Director of Emergency Services, who was there for a return visit, got a front-row seat to their incredible work.

Right as our meeting on victim assistance and the services we provide was about to begin, they were toned out for a fire. Luckily, it was an outside fire, quickly mitigated with no structures threatened. The team handled it with amazing efficiency!

Once everyone returned, the presentation continued. We also got to talk about our national partnership with the Firefighter Cancer Support Network and the local Firefighter Cancer Support Network, Nebraska , an organization we're proud to support.

It was a great night, and we're so grateful to the fine men and women of Blair Fire and Rescue for their time and dedication. We left them with some flyers, posters, and signs, and we're looking forward to our next visit!

1-800-BoardUp of Omaha Metro Area was proud to support the Tri-Mutual Aid Firefighters Association Aid Firefighters Association (TMA) at their recent meeting in Council Bluffs, IA! The meeting was hosted by the Council Bluffs Fire Department and the Pottawattamie County Emergency Management.

Our Director of Emergency Services had the opportunity to speak about our BU Victim Assistance Program and the services we provide.

We also presented a donation of $1,000 to the TMA to help with the repair costs of their Forcible Entry Door Trainer, which has been a valuable tool for many years.

In addition to the donation, we're in the finishing stages of creating over 250 wood blocks for the association's training evolutions with the door.

It was great to hear the Fremont Fire Chief speak about the value of the association and thank the member departments for their quick response and support during a recent large incident.

1-800-BoardUp/Belfor Property Restoration of Omaha is proud to support the TMA and its approximately 30 member departments!

When a disaster strikes, it's not just about the damage—it's about the people. Our 1-800-BoardUp of Omaha Metro Area team was on the scene after a kitchen fire in Bellevue. Thanks to the fast work of Bellevue Fire and Rescue Department, the fire was contained to the kitchen, but the rest of the home suffered significant smoke damage.

Our Director of Emergency Services (DES) and board-up crew quickly got to work securing the property by boarding up windows and covering ventilation holes in the roof.

While the boardup crew worked, our DES ensured the homeowner had a place to stay by leveraging our relationship with the Temporary Housing Directory. Our DES even provided PPE and helped the homeowner retrieve some essential items.

Knowing that every bit of help matters, our team also contacted the American Red Cross Serving Nebraska and Southwest Iowa to provide further assistance to the resident.

We are so thankful the lone resident and their two pets were safe, and we were there to help them through the immediate aftermath of the fire.

Early in the morning hours of July 5th, our 1-800-BoardUp of Omaha Metro Area Director of Emergency Services and board-up crew responded to an unexpected call in Bellevue. What we anticipated might be a fireworks-related fire turned out to be a commercial building impacted by a vehicle.

Both the Bellevue Fire and Rescue Department and the Bellevue (Nebraska) Police Department had responded to the scene.

Our dedicated crew quickly and efficiently secured the building, ensuring safety and mitigating further damage. Another reminder that emergencies don't keep business hours!
