Welcome to the jungle Axel Rose once said. Well welcome to my front lawn. Mushrooms, hay (aka grass) & fungus are by products of weeks of cold, cloudy, damp & rainy weather. Warmer temps & sunny skies are on the way. Mushrooms will dry up & decompose and diseased areas will improve (slowly).
About the long grass & seed heads : keep Mr. Toro busy by mowing in between the showers.

Wrapping up Application # 1. Dealing with the challenges that our spring weather has been interesting. Rain, snow, low soil temps & wind. Just your typical spring. But these 2 characters keep me motivated daily. They are the REAL bosses @ LAWNPOWR!

Planning on wrapping up Application # 1 soon. Just as long as it doesn’t snow, rain or the gale force winds get in my way! I checked the ground temps today & still 56 degrees. Crabgrass germinates in the mid 60’s. So all is good with pre-emergence.I’m treating all visible w**ds. Or as good as 68 yr old eyes can see 👀🤣. Seriously thank you to all customers for your continued loyalty. And if you have neighbors or friends looking for lawn care please mention LAWNPOWR. This is year # 41 in the industry. I started out with leg POWR and now it’s motorized POWR. Thanks technology!

The month of April will be here soon & I’m planning on starting Application # 1. This will include nitrogen, pre-emergence & w**d control (weather permitting).

I’ve always used soil temperatures as a gauge for applying pre-emergence. The most recent I found was 47 degrees. Crabgrass requires temps in the range of upper 50’s to the mid 60’s before germination. I am starting my 41st year in the industry and have always used soil temps as a starting point.

ANXIOUSLY awaiting April! Planning on putting down Application # 1. Of course it depends on the current weather conditions. Wrapping up grub control application. I’m seeing lots of moisture stress. PLEASE continue to water: sprinkler systems should be set @ 20-30 minutes each zone several times each week (depending on current weather) If you’re like me & water with a sprinkler & hose : PLEASE allow 2-3 hours each sprinkler location. Now is the time to be on top of your lawncare needs. We get through August: then it’s nothing but cooler air, lower humidity & then you & your lawn become friends again!! 😇😇😇

Weather will not be to our lawns liking over the next several weeks. Temps in the mid 90’s during the day & mid 70’s @ night. Gotta baby these lawns. Water in the morning ONLY. If by a system: every 4-5 days (20-30 minutes per zone. If you’re using a sprinkler the allow 2-3 hours of watering each location. Finally: mow earlier in the day or towards sunset. Cutting in the heat of the day will leave tracks on your property. Pray for rain 🌧 soon!

By now I’m sure your lawn has been suckered & seeded with tree pods. This has been a bumper crop for tree seedlings. Since these are actually trees: spraying herbicide is NOT the answer. Instead : please stay on top of your mowing as this will eventually stop further germination. Also : bring on the heat. Another pod buster.

Finally writing 1st post this season. Had several challenges this spring. Right knee replacement slow to come back to form following surgery last December. But hopefully all issues are in the past. LAWNPOWR has entered season # 21! & in Application # 2. Thank you for your loyalty.
