We saved an original tiled porch floor!

While I was working on interior plaster repairs last year, I asked the home owner what their plan was for the porch floor. At the time, their contractor had suggested removal as their option due to safety risks, even though the home owner’s desire was to save it.
The three of us got together and discussed it through a preservation lens and luckily, the contractor Jeff was open to the idea and began investigating the structural support.
Jeff found both missing and damaged joists, replaced them & was able to get the floor level.
The home owner took on the task of removing the glue from the carpet they removed when they purchased the property.
I returned this May to replace the tile in the areas where the major damage had occurred.

It’s not perfect, but it’s a major character aspect of the home that was saved to be fully enjoyed by the home owners.

New Plaster Vent Hood

Installed drywall over the plywood; taped/floated/primed; applied plaster in custom tinted in SW Alabaster; wax sealed.
