As i approach the home stretch of my 2023 Great Cycle Challenge USA mission, I would like to take a moment to remind everyone that in the eyes of the law, a bicycle is considered to be a vehicle, and is allowed to be on the same roads as motorists, with the exception of limited/controlled-access highways. Please be alert out there, that cyclist you see along the side of the road some day just might be me.

In one week from today, I will be embarking on my journey of pedaling a total of 200 miles throughout the month of September for Great Cycle Challenge USA to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research.

Why am I doing this? Because cancer is a leading cause of death in children from disease, and every week an average of 38 children in the US lose their battle with this horrible disease. Every child should be living his or her life, not fighting for it.

My challenge won’t be easy, but it’s nothing compared to what children fighting the Big C are going through.
