Texture in the landscape goes a long way to creating an interesting garden. Mixing upright planting with horizontal or globe plants. Fine texture with coarse.
There isn't much colour in this picture but it has texture so it works.
As a landscape designer I am thinking about all the details.

Boxwood Blight has been bad this past year and so you might have been hit already. But if you haven't, here is a bit of information on it. There is a lot more information to learn if you are going to prevent blight on your boxwoods. So get on those resources or call a local qualified horticulturist to deal with it!

Next time your in nature, take a close up at the plants. Some times the beautiful seed heads aren't that noticeable from far away but when you get close you can see the detail and the beautiful design that went into that plant.
Nature is so interesting!

Modern front Landscape can have a lot of strong straight lines. So I like to soften them with plants like grasses because they have a beautiful way of being modern and soft all at the same time.

Transitions and mixing the right materials can make the difference from a design that feels right to one that doesn't.
Changing materials is a great way to transition into a new space with out having walls. And most backyards are quite open - no walls like a house. When people throw in a pool and concrete the yard can quickly feel like a concrete jungle if you don't find ways to soften it with different materials.
