Another daily update from my commercial / light industrial warehouse work cell project. Pulled wire today, made up breakers, made up and installed devices, installed generator input outlet and generator interlock kit. One small layout change had me rotate high bays 180 degrees but other than that it was a solid day and another solid week at Town and Country Electric LLC! Once again, if you need a Licensed and Insured Electrician in the greater Chattanooga area, give us a call or check out our website for more info.

Update to the commercial / light industrial warehouse workcell job! Another great day of progress. Network backbone is set with all CAT6 cables passing tests. More conduit runs for branch circuits. Power pole for power and data installed and connected. High bay task lighting in one cell installed. Tomorrow, tie in MC cable for lighting, hang another bank of high bays in second work cell. Install conduit for network cables protection and possibly mount wireless access points across warehouse. Let’s see how tomorrow goes! If you need any commercial / light industrial projects or troubleshooting/service at your facility, visit our website for info or give us a call! Always looking for more commercial clients! Have a great day!

Starting a commercial / industrial job this week in Chattanooga. I am going to post progress photos of how this comes together. I haven’t done this before and I am not a digital creator so please go easy on me. 😂 we are moving work cells for a client and the first step was to install a new subpanel in the area the work cells will eventually be to cut down on branch circuit length. First step complete! Next we had do decommission the existing work cell power and data along with high bay task lighting. Third we ran new network cables from IT room to an IDF halfway down the facility and then from there out to work cell area in the middle of the warehouse. This is the point we are at as of today. Tomorrow we test the cables, install switches, start layout of work cells and begin running power out to those locations. I love commercial and industrial work! That’s where I started my career almost 30 years ago as an apprentice and I still enjoy it today. Watching the progress of a project from open space to a functioning work cell is awesome and I am always looking for new clients to join my current client list. I always look out for the customer and treat their projects as my own. I will never try to sell you something you don’t need and always look to the most efficient and simple solution for your project. We are very proficient in running / sizing conduit, breakers, and wire to meet your needs and always operate under NEC guidelines. If you are in need of a new electrician for you business or facility, give us a call, you won’t be disappointed. We are a small shop, I am the owner, I do all the estimates and all the work. Our (46) 5-star reviews on Google speak for themselves. Let us know if we can help you on your next project and as always, we are available for troubleshooting and service calls. I ran service for a large contractor for years and I really enjoy figuring out issues and fixing them for clients. As for this project, more updates to come over the next couple of weeks

Had a customer in need of electrical help here in Ooltewah preparing for an electric car charger. These can be a challenge at times depending on the location and access to the electrical panel. This one needed to run through another room before finally making it to the garage. The only option was to run surface mounted emt conduit to get it there due to the construction of the home. I spent years running conduit on commercial and industrial jobs and like to think I can make it look as good as possible in a residential setting. Don’t let someone inexperienced put surface mounted PVC in your garage, you will regret it. Not only is it an eyesore, PVC will start to deform and sag eventually when used this way. They do it because it’s fast and cheap to glue PVC and preformed pieces together. PVC is meant to be buried and if run exposed, it should be of the type schedule 80 not the cheaper schedule 40 due to the chance for damage. I would argue with my years of experience, I can bend conduit faster than they can glue their puzzle together. I think this one turned out well.

⚠️ These breakers FAILED when tested…

Most homes rely on GFCI, AFCI, or Dual Function protection—but if they don’t trip, they’re not protecting you.

The National Electrical Code requires these for a reason:
✔️ Shock protection
✔️ Fire prevention

👉 They should be tested monthly (or at least a few times a year)

If yours haven’t been tested… there’s a good chance they’re not working.

Had a great day and met two new customers today. One was adding a new outlet in a sunroom and the other was troubleshooting a lost power issue. Both were challenges in different ways but at the end of it all, I met two great couples and left them happy. Days like today are why I love doing what I do. I owe a huge thank you to all of my current and past customers for the opportunity.

Approaching Thanksgiving and the Hollidays, I would like to take the opportunity to give a huge THANK YOU to all of our amazing customers this year! Without you, we couldn’t be in business and do what we love to do.

Yes, we are a small business, not a franchise or large contractor. With this comes limited availability but, never a lack of experience, quality, honesty, or finding solutions for customers needs or budget. Bigger isn’t better folks! I hear time and time again what the big box contractors have charged people and it’s almost criminal.

Yes, electrical work is not cheap, especially now with tariffs affecting almost all of our material costs and a lack of qualified electricians. That being said, if you are given a quote and it is tens of thousands of dollars or are told that you “don’t meet code and have to upgrade”, get a second opinion. Unless you are making modifications to your electrical system that require an upgrade by the city or county, no one can make you nor do you need to spend this money.

Are there situations where I would recommend an upgrade, yes, but only when necessary and the protection of property and tenant safety is involved.

I told a customer recently, “I am not a salesman, I am an electrician.” I am extremely proud of this statement and will stand by it. I will never sell you anything you don’t need and will always give you my honest opinion. This opinion is based on my decades of experience, knowledge of the National Electrical Code, and the City, County, and State codes that are enforced. This opinion is never based on profit margins.

Please reach out to us if you need honest, quality electrical work this year. We would love to help.

As I mentioned earlier, we are a small contractor so not every phone call can be answered. Please either leave a voicemail or visit our website at www.tcetn.net and fill out a quote request form. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Holliday season!
